What that Gallup poll means: We have a helluva group of candidates!
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 07:33 PM by diplomats
I just logged on and saw this poll:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/polls/tables/live/2003-09-22-bush-poll.htm

I'm ecstatic as I can be. We have five candidates either leading or within 3 points of Bush. FIVE CANDIDATES! Not one or two, but Clark, Kerry, Lieberman, Gephardt and Dean. I'm currently a Clark supporter but I like a lot of the Dems running. And I feel especially happy for Dean because this blows a hole in the conventional wisdom that's he's not electable. The big news here is Bush is so bad a bunch of Dems have a shot at him. So even if the Rove machine shoots down Clark, for instance, there are several other strong candidates who can beat Bush's ass.

So much for a "weak" Democratic field, huh?

I meant that as a dig at Repukes who've been saying that for months.

2. It's been my POV...
...that the best strategy is for the Democratic party to have a broad field of candidates, presenting "multiple moving targets", for as long as possible, to defray the efforts of the RW smear machine.

It's a wise strategy...

4. I agree, and I think that has made a difference
in us finally breaking through and damaging Bush. Again, the conventional wisdom that we suffered by not having an early front-runner with a lock on the nomination turned out to be wrong. It's actually a great weapon.
