Scott Ritter..
once said that an attack on Iran will take place in June...still think that's in the works for this...especially to distract from the Downing Street Minutes?

1. Well June isn't even
half over but I wonder if they planned on having Bolton in place first?

3. Won't happen, it would truly be more than we could handle.

A tragedy of unimaginable proportions.

Of course when has reality or need for assessment ever influenced Bush?

4. Actually, Ritter didn't say "an attack on Iran will take place in June",
Here is what he said....

3/11/2005
Exclusive: Raw Story chats with Scott Ritter
In a candid interview with RAW STORY, former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter sets the record straight on his comments about Iran, shares his concerns about the threats facing America and discusses his hopes. RAW STORY’s interview with Ritter will be published in three parts.

Iran’s nuclear program

Raw Story’s Larisa Alexandrovna: Scott, first let me thank you for taking the time to speak with me. I want to get right to the meat of things by asking you about a comment you reportedly made in February of this year in your joint appearance with journalist Dahr Jamail in Washington state, where you were quoted as saying that George W. Bush had signed off on plans to bomb Iran in June 2005.

Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter: No. Someone else wrote that I had said that.

Raw Story: So it is not correct?

Ritter: It is not wildly incorrect, but it is taken totally out of context. The emphasis is placed on the wrong things. What I said was that the President, in October of 2004, had been briefed by the Pentagon. In preparation to have in place by June 2005 a viable military option. This was in response to instructions by the President that the US must be prepared to implement the next phase of its Iran policy or strategy; the first phase of course being the pursuit of the so called diplomatic option-in other words allowing the European Union to carry out its outreach program.

5. Thank you for that clarification.

"By June 2005" is a whole lot different than "in June 2005."

7. Wes Clark has also mentioned a Bush plan on a possible assault on Iran....
But his timing it closer to the '06 election--Clark says most likely June '06.

He said publicly that BushCo will most likely draw down some troups (40,000 out of the 180,000 there now) out of Iraq for photo-op PR coming home purposes at the end of this summer (to calm the natives in America and in Iraq, and attempt to raise his approval%.... shall we say).

That way an Iran crisis in 2006 would play out better.

As you may know....Republicans will use whatever they can to continue winning elections, including using whatever works in enhancing their perceived strength--National Security. The Iraq Invasion resolution was used in 2002, 9/11 was used adnauseum during the 2004 election (see GOP convention), the Bin Laden tape came out for a reason as the '04 election October suprise (tape released on Oct 29th).

So I certainly wouldn't at all put it passed them, to use some kind of Iran showdown in 2006. In BushCo. World, everything is political.

6. I never thought...
that an Iran attack would come with the same kind of propaganda preparation that accompanied the Rape of Iraq.

The Crusaders can no longer afford to subject their lies to the scrutiny of their critics for weeks at a time. 9/11 and the WMD lies have put paid to any credibility.

All they have to operate with is shock and awe.

If the strike on Iran happens, it will be half-over by the time you hear about it. Some provocation will be manufactured: a "surprise" Iranian incursion into Iraq, a "Qaeda agent" seen going into the Iranian nuclear plant, a suicide bomber's belt "discovered" on the corpse of a Persian in Podunk.

The bombs will be dropping on Iran at the same time that CNN starts feeding you the official conspiracy theory about the casus belli.

Watch for a double-play in which Israel takes the opportunity to engage in its required, once-in-a-generation destruction of the Syrian military.

10. I agree.....
with your scenario.

The tactics used to F*ck over Iran will be of a different variation.

8. Again, Scott Ritter said no such thing...
He said that in June, the US would withdraw from the negotiations table with the EU, and force sanctions. Plans are, however, on the table for an Iran strike.

11. Well someone has been blowing shit up in the south and they
are blaming U.S. backed opposition groups, or as we like to call opposition these days, terrorists.

Even if he didn't say it precisely, he once again proves he knows what he's talking about.
