Why wait till 2006? Do it now!
I keep hearing all the time how we should wait until 2006 to go for impeachment because we don't have the majority it takes in the House to assure an impeachment measure gets consideration. Well ya know what? Nothing is ever for sure, and we may NEVER have enough votes to claim a majority if we don't go after the imbecile ASAP. I'd rather TRY to impeach soon, than let this clown completely off the hook without a fight. If ever a president is ripe for the picking, it's this one.

The general mood in the country couldn't be more appropriate than it is right now. Think about it...the lousy economy, his ratings, the gas prices, the general dissatisfaction with the war, 96% of the people knowing he mislead the country into war when he lied (and that includes many Republicans who know), the divisiveness everyone's sick of (and that includes many Republican's who are sick of it, too, I would think).....and oh yeah, the DSM! Personally, I think there are more Republicans than you realize who are behind closed doors whispering little unpleasantries to each other about Bush.

At least if we try, it'll be on his record, and the public will take notice. At best we might be in for a VERY pleasant surprise. Either way, some very important questions will have to be answered if a motion to impeach is brought up. Gotta stop assuming that every Republican will vote to save Bush's hide.

The time to start this is NOW. Put the monster on the spot and watch him squirm. We cannot let this jackass off the hook by taking a chance on waiting until 2006. Things can change too quickly. If we don't try soon, we may never know what might have happened. Go for Cheney, too, while we're at it. We might as well go for broke! Starting it will be the hardest part, but things will get easier once we get the ball rolling.

1. I agree with you.
By the time 2006 comes and proceedings begin, they will keep it out of committee for the next year or so and it will never get addressed and the MF'er will get off scot-free. I think we can definitely start things now and get it happening 1/06, but no way in hell should everything begin sometime in '06. You can certainly hang up the thought of getting it done when the election cycle begins again.

Unfortunately, the DEMs are in bed w/ re :puke: 's, corporations and anyone withenough cash to take care of their greed, so it's never gonna happen anyway.

There should be a grass roots effort by the "people" to get their voice heard, and I don't mean by lame-o LTTE's, blogs, and stupid-assed internet petitions that never go anywhere anyway.

4. You are so right about the internet as it applies to something like this.
It's great for keeping our spirits up and for venting to each other and coming up with ideas, but unless we start showing our physical selves much more often out in the streets carrying signs & marching in protest, all the internet petitions in the world aint gonna matter. Nothing hits home like seeing the real thing.

2. Two reasons
1) Impeachment has exactly ZERO chance of actually happening, and thus, as a news story, it will have a very short life span.

2) Americans have extremely short memories.

I don't think we benefit at all from pushing for impeachment, now or in 2006. Going after a lame duck that isn't getting much done as it is does little to attack the other Republicans who will continue to be in power after Bush. Bush has become a straw man, and not much more at this point.

3. We have to stop worrying about what might not happen & do the right thing
This man deserves impeachment like no other, and it's just about our duty to make sure it happens.

Holding off because we're worried about whether or not we'll benefit is just plain wrong. Justice needs to be served and we can't serve it without trying, and what better time to start than now or very very soon.

6. But justice ISN'T going to be served.
Impeachment is NOT going to happen. Not now. And probably not in 2006, unless the unlikely event occurs that we take the House back.

So why act now, completely irrationally, when it has absolutely no benefit? If you're going to take an action, take it when it matters. Take it when it means something. Taking action just to say you took action is absolutely ludicrous.

8. Vash, what makes you so POSITIVE that nothing will become of it??
Because we don't have the majority in the House to guarantee impeachment?

Well if that's your reason, and it seems like it is, then I guess you also don't believe we have enough evidence of wrongdoing on this bum to convince a few of the Republican congressmen to vote to at least assign a judiciary committee to look into whatever impeachment charges are brought up. You do NOT need a majority to at least bring up an impeachment motion in the House. If that happens, and hopefully it will very soon, we have enough on Bush to make things happen. From there, you never know how far it will go, and I think it could go all the way.

No way should we throw in the towel and convince ourselves we're defeated before we even try.

Never give up!!

11. Although I agree with you....
some might say that the Republicans did pretty well by going after a lame duck president in 1998.

15. Not really
The Republicans failed to remove Clinton and they lost at the polls in the 1998 elections.

17. That's true
I forgot about that. Still the whole Monica-gate was going on during the elections and the Repugs got beat.

I don't have a problem with impeaching Bush but I would say the congress better make sure they are successful in removing Bush. If a impeachment fails to result in a conviction and removal of Bush/Cheney from office, Bush and Cheney are to try to get revenge on the Democrats. Bush won't just move on after an impeachment attempt like Clinton did.

We have to keep fighting. We can't let these bastards get away with everything they've done. I'd say screw the naysayers. If they want to stay pessimistic, fine. I'm going to keep fighting. I'll never give up!

10. I think the whole lot of them ought to be impeached now
including the Supremes who handed him the 2000 election by stepping out of their jurisdiction and stepping on the rights of the Florida Supreme Court. I always wondered why Clinton just watched it unfold instead of stepping in as a leader should insisting that the law be followed. But that is water under the bridge right now.

I wonder why the honest Republicans aren't calling for impeachment. They should.

12. I think eventually they will call for it, the honest Republicans that you
mentioned. All it takes is for one to start the ball rolling and the tide would turn. It's like there's gotta be a lot of pent of frustrations on the Republicans side, too, over Bush. Who knows, maybe a Repuke will start the process before the Democrats wake up. Catch us snoozin once again.

14. Easy solution...
Villify Tom DeLay forcing a temporary replacement in the House and then proceed to put them on trial. Use the fervor generated by his many scandals. He's scandalman now, so his reputation is shot. http://houseofscandal.org

An only republican dirty trick, and one that works well especially in a time neocons are exposed for the whole world to see.

Just get all your congress reps who do not speak for this evil, to take action.
