I'm having a problem with bell south. Phone has had a very loud buzz
since las Thursday. U called them and they assured me it would be fixed by 7PM on Mon. Well, since it's almost 11PM that didn't happen. I've called them four times. The last time, they said this report was closed as fixed this afternoon!!! My threat was to just say goodby to Bell South! They are now telling me they will do their best to have it fixed ASAP but it will for sure be by Thurs at 7PM.

What would you do?

I realize this is not a political problem, but ut is...sort of. Aren't all these co's thinking they can control the public?

1. Look in your phone book for the public utilities commission and
call them now or tomarrow morning and file a complaint. Phone companies panic when you file a complaint with them. I've done it numerous times in different states and it works like a charm.

3. I never thought of that/ Thanks!
I did tell that only live person I spoke to that I guess I do have the option of going to Verison or AT&T or MCI. She said Ok we don't want you to do that! I'm sure that's true, but I don't want to go from the frying pan into the fryer, if you know what I mean. This is just pi**ing me off, but I dealt with MCI in the past and they were no better!

I will call the PUC tomorrow AM. I don't know how fast they respond, but I think it's worth a try!

6. I had problems with my telephone line for months. Almost every
WWednesday I'd call up an complain. It only seemed to be a problem one day a week. So one day I got really tired of talking to the telephone company and called the PUC. Next week the problem was still there and I called the telephone company again. She asked when the last time it happened. I said a week ago. She asked if I called. I said no, I called the PUC. The next day a team was at my door step. They had a team at the switching station too. They spent 4 hours finding the problem. The lines to the house were cracked and when it rained, I had the problem.

I even got action after Hurrican Jeanne came through. We were without telephone service for 3 weeks. I called to find out what was going on and they told me everything was fine. They fixed the street but never checked to see if our phone was working. She said it would be another 3 weeks. She put us on the bottom of the list. The same day the doctor was trying to get ahold of my test with some urgent test results and they couldn't get through. The phone was fixed the next day.

2. Only service we get here is Sprint
I hate them. Their service is horrible and it took two trips to get them to repair our lines when we moved into this house.

The competition they've got are other phone services which are only local and the monthly rates are expensive. Usually it's for people who've had their service cut off or asked for it to be cut off. Sprint's trying to get in on that action by saying these other services can't use their phone lines.

They are trying to muscle in on the smaller services who can't afford to fight Sprint.

4. Loud Buzz usually means
Water in a Telco box or disintegrating underground lines. Have you had heavy rain lately, do you live in a seismically active area?

Cali has bad lines everywhere, earthquakes strech the trunks which eventually suffer water intrusion. Tip off is everyone in your neighborhood has bad lines or trouble getting a second line.

I've seen them swap neighbors lines just to clear the complaint, of course then your neighbor gets the bad line. They'll do it for years rather than dig up the street.

5. Well, I live in Ga. so earthquakes are not the problem, but water
could be. We have had a lot of rain in the last few months.

I don't pretend to know what the problem is, and I don't think I should have to! I pay my bill every month, and when they tell me on Friday the problem will be fixed by 7PM Monday, I didn't like it, but I accepted it. It was the weekend and all. NOW I'm pi**ed! When this lady in their call center said that this complaint order had been closed this afternoon and had been fixed, I don't think I should type here w3hat went through my mind! I didn't say it to her, although I did come fairly close. This is total BS!!! I don't use the phone very much...maybe 5 calls a month at most! But I pay my bill and I expect the service.
