Gene Stone raises the question again
The dilema has always been: do we fight back as dirty as the Repubs or do we hold onto our principles??

Here, he's talking about the latestest Hillary bashing book and also Lucianne Goldberg

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/archive/gene-stone/doctor-lawyer-indian-ch_2906.html

Yes, as insulting as these kind of books are, the ability to write them--and to generate publicity from them--is one of the right wing’s strengths: they keep nasty gossip flowing in the mainstream media. They are bulldogs on the ankles of the press. Once they’ve got a hold, they don’t let go.

The left, in the meantime, continues to try to be polite. And decent. And thoughtful.

Like that’s any good when you’re fighting a war.

Why is it that conservatives are not only willing to call liberals on their transgressions, but willing to slander them as well? And never let it drop?
Why is it liberals, trying to fight the good fight, feel it’s somehow wrong? You should never fight mean. You shouldn’t hurt anyone. I’m not suggesting slander and libel. I’m only say that when you actually have truth on your side, there’s no reason to let it go. Ever.

4. I'm beginning to formulate a "Moses"
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 11:07 AM by ewagner
theory.....

Follow me through on this:

The Democratic Party needs a person to lead them out of the political wilderness.....a person who will fight as hard as he/she has to in order to win; a person who will do whatever it take (right or wrong) to win and put the Democrats back into a position of power (or at least parity) with the neocons who are ruining the county.

BUT

That person can never be elected to a position of power. They can only watch from the outside as leaders who DID NOT violate the moral code rule with wisdom, justice and compassion....

In other words, the person or persons who take us to the "promised land" can never enter the promised land....hence the "moses" analogy/

What do you think?

6. What's your answer?
Are you thinking of Howard Dean here, or a Democratic equivalent of Karl Rove? Some terrible, nightmare amalgamation of the two? Or no one in particular?

7. No one in particular
not at this time anyway....

I'm not sure Howard Dean could be ruthless enough.....a KKKarl Rove type for sure but with somebody as morally "flexible" as Bush* to pull it off....

2. Can't say he's wrong. You see it happen all the time.
For instance, on Air America this morning, Markk and Mark refered to Durbin as going "a little over the top." Screw that. Even that tiny little bit. Even if he did, we don't mention it. You ever here Limbaugh call out Frist for calling Democrats Nazis? Of course not. We speak ill of no Democrat until they turn batshit insane like Zell Miller. We turn all our attention on conservatives, and to them, we lob rhetorical Molotov cocktails 24/7.
March on a road of bones. Take no prisoners. The meek are doomed. Besides, truth is on our side.

8. We keep doing this to ourselves all the time.
it drives me nuts. We keep evaluating the barrage of crap coming from the rightwing hate machine for kernels of truth buried in the shit. Oh, Durbin said the nazi word, that might be inappropriate. Oh, Dean may have overstated the theocracy angle, he should take that back. They take nothing back. They lie like a rug, they lie with abandon, they lie needlessly about anything and everything. They insult us, libel us, slander us, and turn around and write books that claim we are the nasty side, and we, in reaction start examining our navals for evidence of inappropriate lint.

We are in a street fight, they are kicking us in the nuts, poking us in the eyes, going for the throat, and we keep trying to box by the rules and our boxing couch is saying 'hey your last punch was a little low, watch that'.

We are not going to start winning until we stand up and fight back and focus on who they are, what they are saying, and most importantly on what they are doing. We are not going to win when we keep apologizing for our core beliefs and for speaking the truth.

3. Good question
When a liberal goes on the attack against the conservatives, he/she not only has to face the fury of the right but the nervous back-biting of his/her own comrades.

"Dear me, we shouldn't call them names, they might not like us."

Well being nice has lost the Democrats the White House, the Senate, the Congress and the respect of the American people.
