4. A friend of mine carried recruitment fliers in his trunk last year.
He lived in a college town, so he saw little rallies like this all the time. Whenever he could, he would stop at these little demonstrations and start passing out recruitment fliers to the assembled masses. He said he was "poorly received".

Another would be to put a couple of fliers in those little RE boxes in front of 1/2 million$ + + + new homes. When one has that kind of money they just want to stay home!

6. An Idea For Michael Moore
Remember how in Farenheit 9-11 he went around to members of Congress with the marine recruiter? He should go around to College Republicans meetings and Support Our Troop rallies (with the recruiter).

Although, I would hope recriuters already go to Pro-War rallies, but who knows, maybe they prefer to try and sucker poor people.

"I would hope recruiters already go to Pro-War rallies..."

I doubt it. However satisfying it may be to imagine College Republicans being harassed by recruiters I'm sure that the recruiters are very aware that they would be wasting their time. They know the score.

"...maybe they prefer to try and sucker poor people."

That's probably exactly what they do. I think the truth is that during a war, especially an unpopular war, it's mostly people with no other options who voluntarily enlist. So that's where the recruiters go.

35. See related threads (btw, I called and invited recruiters near VA)
None of the recruiters were aware of this event.

Also, College Republicans refuses to put links to armed forces on their "Resources" page, not even in the "Government Jobs" section.

Contact information is included in the threads below, in case anyone else wants to contact these Armed Forces recruiters.

8. Remember those Hardball programs of last year?
The ones where Matthews aired his programs from colleges around the country? At the end of each program he'd ask the audience who supported the war and there would be tremendous cheering. Then he'd ask who was planning on enlisting and maybe one or two people would stand up, if that many. Sometimes none. And there was no clapping.

29. Anyway, today I went on a "Yellow Elephant Run"...
I picked-up some brochures from our friendly neighborhood blood-merchant... I mean Armed Forces Recruiter.

Did you know they have a special brochure to recruit musicians?

So, I gave out a total of ten brochures today.

I labeled each one with a "Yellow Elephant" sticker.

Eight of them I left on parked cars that had Bush/Cheney or "W" stickers.

One of them I handed to a woman getting into her car with her two little boys. I got out of my car and said, "Excuse me, this is for you. Make sure you enlist your kids when they're old enough. It's YOUR war, let THEM fight it." She took it from me and politely said "Thank You."

Well, I said to myself, "Man, you're a pussy. I bet you wouldn't get out of your car to give it to a GUY."

Well, maybe it wasn't too bright, but I did give it to a dangerous looking dude in a pick-up truck. He looked like he'd probably already been in the Army. I got out and said, "Excuse me, sir. This is for you." He said, "Thank you" as I dropped it in his passenger seat and got hurriedly into my car.

I figured discretion was the better part of valor and I shouldn't engage him in conversation.

Still, don't tell my wife, okay?

40.  "It's easy to be macho when you have nothing at risk."
Excellant article in an <what a surprise> overseas newspaper:

http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,361262,00.html

It's easy to be macho when you have nothing at risk. The hawks want the war to be fought with other people's children, while their own children go safely off to college, or to the mall. The number of influential American officials who have children in uniform in Iraq is minuscule.

You can still find plenty of folks arguing that we have to stay the course, or even raise the stakes by sending more troops to the war zone. But from the very start of this war the loudest of the flag-waving hawks were those who were safely beyond military age themselves and were unwilling to send their own children off to fight.

I don't know how you win a war that your country doesn't want to fight. We sent too few troops into Iraq in the first place and the number of warm bodies available for Iraq and other military missions going forward is dwindling alarmingly. The Bush crowd may be bellicose, but for most Americans the biggest contribution to the war effort is a bumper sticker that says "support our troops," and maybe a belligerent call to a talk radio station.

The president and these home-front warriors got us into this war and now they don't know how to get us out. Nor do they have a satisfactory answer to the important ethical question: how do you justify sending other people's children off to fight while keeping a cloak of protection around your own kids?

42. This reminds me of these snotty young conservatives that were on C-SPAN
once, what My sister said when she heard what they were saying. Last Summer when I was at her house visiting her, I was watching C-SPAN's Washington Journal, and they had these two young conservatitves on because there was some meeting going on, and she sat on the sofa next to me. Throughout the whole interview, My sister was rebunking everything they said, and during one point one of them said they were going to join the army after grad school, and my sister said " What a F&*%ing lier, he is going do exactly what Bush and Cheney did...NOTHING!!!" I was somewhat shocked this stuff was coming from my sister, because for the most part, she kinda ignores politics. Well these pictures remind me, of what she about those young conservatives, because they are not going to join up, they only support assholes like Bush his policies, because they are chickens just like him, they are the REAL cowards, and I would like to see them get their asses sent to Iraq just punish them for supporting an asshole like Bush.
