A rant on the distractions
Today it's flag burning. yesterday it was Dick durbin. Last week it was something else. And always Democrats get distracted and go off to fight this momentary battle or that and never get around to fighting what should be the main battles.
I believe we should laser focus on a few issues. When the repukes bring up the distractions we should turn the discussion back to our focus issues, asking questions such as "why do we discuss flag-burning when 46 million americans have no health insurance and many more are under insured.
I had a state rep tell me the other day that Dems at all levels need to focus on just a few core issues. His list: Jobs, health care and education. This works at a state level. I'd add ending Bush's war, the deficit and balance of trade, and the growing disparity between rich and poor in this country as other issues we and our leaders must push. And push hard and not let the repukes take the lead. (I left out Social Security because so far it appears safe. Medicaid and medicare are rolled into health care).
So when the missing white woman of the day is the distraction we need to somehow turn the discussion back to our core issues and hammer them home.
End of rant.

3. Put the DSM on my list.
Point is we should take over the conversation and force it.

2. distractions
Did you here about this lady from Georgia, she
ran away from her fiance on the altar, she was charged with
something, or something, and Katie Couric interviewed her
it was awesome
Now that is what we should be focused on
(hurl)

4. Sadly, the Dem base calls for fighting all these distractions
Just look around at the threads here. Everyone has an issue or three they feel are vitally important.

Distractions come from all quarters. Bullshit issues from the repubs. Bullshit stories from the media. And, dare I say it, bullshit issues from the left.

I agree with you completely. We need some focus and some discipline.

And our base needs to stop being the ankle biters they've proved they can so effectively be. Sadly (and I, too, have issues that matter to me a lot and less to others), we must sublimate our internal proclivity for distracting.
