Finally some news to get excited about(Launch of IWTnews Website)
A coalition of independent journalists and media reformers are getting set to launch IWT news. This is worth watching. This the email I received today:

"The big day is finally here. The official IWTnews website just launched, and I want you to be among the first to know. Please take a look, and let me know what you think:

<http://www.IWTnews.com>

When you first visit our new site, you'll see a short video outlining our vision. Then, take our poll to tell us what YOU think about our plan to build the world's first global independent news network.

One last thing... our success depends on building an online movement of people like you and me who care about news and democracy. When you read our plan on the website, you'll see that it's going to take tens of thousands of us.

Please help us spread the word to friends and family about our new effort by sending the link to IWTnews.com to at least 5 others right now. I've included some sample text below."

1. I visitedtheir site earlier today.
They show a video and visitors to fill out a survey. They also ask that people to tell their friends about it.

2. That would be a miracle if they're
going to have a tv station, too.

But I'm concerned about the overlap with PBS.

6. I complained that by going only on Satellite TV and the Internet
they'll be preaching to the choir. Most Americans can't afford or don't have satellite TV, and those with the Net already have access to progressive or unbiased news. Some of us also still have old TVs that aren't digital.

The audience we need to reach is the people watching Cable TV and network news, so while I applaud the concept of an independent world media, I won't be giving money until they get on cable or network TV.

Whether or not you give money, I'd urge you to suggest cable TV as a better way to reach the masses in the United States.

7. How will this be different from FSTV or LINK tv?
Are we splitting our efforts?

9. Lots of info on website
Met this group at Media Reform Conference in St. Louis. Many of those involved excellent jounalists or media reformist. Check out website and supporting staff. Besides there is nothing wrong with multiple sources of news. Competition on a level playing field is healthy.

I'm dying to see and HEAR the video. I am already emailing all my friends about this site and I will use it and DU as my primary news sources (and buzzflash and the Rawstory).
