Dems Say Rove Should Apologize or Resign

Thursday June 23, 2005 5:16 PM

By JIM ABRAMS

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - White House adviser Karl Rove should either apologize or resign for remarks that liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to ``prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers,'' Democrats said Thursday.

Adding to the rancor, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., suggested that Republican charges that Democrats were undermining the war on terror with their criticism of administration policies amounted to an act of desperation.

``The president wanted to go to Iraq in the worst possible way and he did,'' Pelosi said. ``The president is on the ropes.''

Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that ``liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.'' Conservatives, he told the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, ``saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.''

All we can do is show that Bush uses sleazy people of questionable morals (nicest way I can say it) to define his strategy.

That was a nice jab at bush* but you gotta land some roundhouses and uppercuts!

27. Not just a shame.
I would submit she needs to add, the SHAME AND DISGRACE OF IT

Anyone else here wondering why Rove has been sent out to distract everybody? Is something looming on the horizon, and with all this attention focused on this playground BS, then Rush Limbaugh can claim that they would have averted another terror attack but bush was spending all his time defending himself against partisan attacks?

Watch these people. Watch them very very closely. Everything they say, everything they do, has a hidden agenda. Rove should be treated like a bouncing betty. Circle around him extremely warily.

6. Don't let this psychopath get under your skin
Pelosi is exactly right. All this is an act of desperation. Rove's entire M.O. is to appeal to raw emotions so he can divide and conquer. After listening to some calls on C-SPAN this morning it is working among the extreme right. They are frothing at the mouth and regurgitating this ridiculous hatred. Why? Because they have nothing else. Everything they supported in this "war" is turning out to be a sham and they don't know what else to do. They have nothing left.

The truth will prevail

Attack the "Patriotism" of the Democrats and those who question BushCo's motives and actions.

Propaganda Minister Rove always pulls it out when they desperately need something or want to screw things up more.

8. Rove is a White House Official
He is no longer running a political campaign.

This sort of extreme partisanship and the desperate use of the events of 9-11 is despicable for a WH Official.

So much for restoring respect and decency to the Oval Office.

He's really stinking up the place.

By the way, why did this administration (at best) ignore all the warnings they got before 9.11 that an attack was about to happen?

Why did this administration ignore Richard Clark?

Why did this administration fly Saudis out of this country before they could be questioned?

Why do the American people put up with this crappy, abusive "leadership"

because you make such an important point. With the DSM in the news at last, responding to the indignity of Rove's "conservatives prepared for war" with the rather important addendum "with the wrong gd country" is a nice way to take care of two birds with one stone.

that it took until the 19th post in this thread before somebody finally brought out the obvious...

"Conservatives...prepared for War"...
...WITH THE WRONG GDDAMED COUNTRY!!!!!
Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9-11!!!!

And that is EXACTLY what the Dems should have responded with and should be hammering now.

My God, sometimes I think even WE have gotten sucked into their propaganda... they've made the 911/Iraq subliminal connection so many fucking times I swear even WE have forgotten that Iraq had fuck-all to do with 911.

Some prominent Dem had BETTER step up to the plate and hammer that point home loud and long and clear, or I just give the fuck up on this party.

You know... ask questions of him ... tell me the truth of the matter..... then he explodes.... "Truth, You can't handle the truth!"

You want answers?
Lt. Daniel Kaffee: I think I'm entitled.
Col. Nathan R. Jessep: You want answers?!
Lt. Daniel Kaffee: I want the truth!
Col. Nathan R. Jessep: You can't handle the truth!
-----
Col. Nathan R. Jessep: Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and curse the Marines; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.
You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
-----
Lt. Daniel Kaffee: Did you order the code red?
Col. Nathan R. Jessep: I did the job I had to do.
Lt. Daniel Kaffee: Did you order the code red?!
Col. Nathan R. Jessep: You're God damn right I did!

36. He should, but...
He won't. I don't think, in a million years this man will apologizee for anything. And he won't apologize now. Why should he? He has a strong base, that believes that GWB or anything Republican is capable of any wrong. Even if GWB was found to be a drunk/drug addict/and into porn, they will/would still love him, and show him undying affection. The same is true with Karl Rove, he won't apologize for anything, why should he? He is pompous and full of himself, but what else is new.

But again, its the Repub way, its their way, or you are a traitor, don't support the troops etc etc...I hope the dems in power stand up to these crap, i really hope so, it will give me a shred of hope. Later, Don.

39. Rove losing it with the "volunteer Fire Fighter" types and
oter Volunteer Responders - we were there.

His own Department of reports
After September 11, 2001, America witnessed a wellspring of selflessness and heroism. People in every corner of the country asked, "What can I do?" and "How can I help?" Citizen Corps was created to help all Americans answer these questions through public education and outreach, training, and volunteer service.

in describing
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and can take a more active role in preparing their community. The program is administered by DHS.
.

Ham Radio's and - which are frequently interlocking and overlapping at the local level - reported major jumps in training, membership, and participation.

Meanwhile, governmental programs such as and both reported jumps in training, membership, and retention of new members.

And, of course, the stalwart of the Emergency Response NGO's the reported a massive jump in training, membership, and most important, retention of new responders.

One can only ask - where does Mr. Rove get his numbers and facts --- maybe from his medicinal marijuana.

Rove is losing it in the non-partisan, bi-partican, apartisan volunteer emergency responder community.
