WH defends Rove; Dems turn on Durbin and Dean.

We have soooooooo far to go before we can get our shit together enough to get power back.

Aside from DSM, the last month has been utterly depressing on so many fronts.

1. I find the last month encouraging
It is getting better, we are more united. It will take time but I think we are well on our way.

4. I agree -
they're desperate enough to haul out Karl Rove from hiding. That man runs things from the background, so I see it as a good sign for us.

9. I agree
First he's on Hardball with David Gregory (and a pretty lackluster appearance at that -- he fumbled with several answers) and now this speech. They must be REALLY desperate if they're wheeling out "The Architect."

7. Agreed
I loved Dean on PBS yesterday when he defended Durbin and said he wasn't about to criticize someone so brilliant and awesome. He's showing them how it's done, with class.

2. And there it is
They never apologize or explain, while we continue to eat our own. And then we wonder why we're the minority party :eyes:

8. Dems on the Defensive.
Dems on the Defensive.

This is Rove's game. He isn't a genius. He is scum that has figured out how to attack his enemey. No.1 Rule. Attack the strong points of the enemey. Dems are weak and appease, for the most part. They are quesy with Offense and cave in when pressured. Of course, I am not saying that all Dems are like that but wouldn't you agree that it's a general case?

Dems should frame the issues. Go on the offensive and never apologize. Come back with even a strong Offensive when attacked even by their own.

Do not ask Rove for an apology. Go on the Offensive.

The Bush Regime prepared for a savage War On Iraq BEFORE the 911 Attack.
The Bush Regime used the 911 Attack as a reason to illegally invade Iraq and lied to Congress about WMDs. Impeachment is required!

13. We should be grateful for this -- we can now make Rove the story
Make HIM the problem, make HIS behavior the issue, HIS words divisive and counter-productive. I truly believe that if we want to change things in this country, we've got to start with removing him from the WH (even before *). Without Rove, * is just a limp mannequin.

10. In These Times is proposing a "We've got your back" campaign
http://interestingtimes.blogspot.com/2005/06/proposal-weve-got-your-back-democratic.html

Any Democrat who takes a courageous step into the minefield of the Republican Noise Machine has to keep one thing in mind: they will get very little support from their fellow Democrats. It's a sad statement but one that is born out by recent history.

. . .

I've been thinking about this all day and I think we need to establish a permanent "We've Got Your Back!" campaign that will stand behind Democrats, any Democrats, who step into the Right Wing Noise Machine's fire. This campaign that will track signs of Democratic courage in the face of Republican attacks. If the attacks become particularly egregious (as they did against Durbin) then a fundraising bat will be created that links to those Democrat's campaign donation page and petition drives will be started to demonstrate our support for their courage.

If done right, all future Dick Durbins will have evidence with 24-48 hours that there is strong support for them to continue their efforts on our behalf. Then they can turn around on the future Richard Daleys and Joe Bidens, wave those signatures and that cash in their faces and say "bite me!"

Anyone interested in getting this started? My web skills are for shit so I don't think I can do this on my own. But I'm interested in helping out where I can. Let me know what you think.

11. No Democrats TURNED On Dean. The Mediawhore Made That Up & DU'ers
swallowed it whole.

The statements by Dean and Biden, Edwards etc were cut up and editted to mislead you into thinking Democrats were turning on Dean.

Why would you believe the mediawhores?

Dean and the elected Democrats are both doing what they're SUPPOSED to be doing.

16. What I don't get is why so many people are in denial about it.
The media didn't make them say "Dean doesn't speak for Democrats." Edwards said in his letter he would say it again.

The other side says things like "I think he meant X, or the point he was making is Y."

Ours? "Doesn't speak for Democrats."

Yet many, many people refuse to see it...

17. I think Edwards clarified that Dean himself said he'd phrase it
differently, and I'm certain he learned not to let the media use him in that manner again. ;)
