4. I doubt if it will be allowed to stay under 10,000
because Bush is still pushing for social security money to flood the stock market. He hasn't given up on his scam, no matter what the MSM said. Keeping the market above 10,000 is so the suckers will think it's safe.

5. No, but after 180 point drop yesterday, and then...
...the weekend break (which gives investors a lot of time to fret and sweat), I would say it's some thing to keep track of.

6. It's been doing this for months
If it stays under 10k for a week I'll start taking an interest. :-)

7. Does NY close at 4:00pm?
Watching the CNBC ticker, the Dow just recovered about some points (to -86), is the last our usually a bit wild?

14. Well, I don't know about "free fall," but
Compare and contrast DJIA closing figures:

1/20/93: 3,241.95 (Clinton inaugurated)

6/24/97: 7,758.06 (increase of 239%)

1/20/01: 10,587.59 (Bush inaugurated)

6/24/05: 10,297.84 (decrease of 1%)

16. 2.74% in two days
I agree it's been up and down for months, but an almost 3% drop in the Dow in two days is at least notable, (though it's definitely not "freefall").

17. Yep, what's the word, oh yeah "Stagnate"
I forget where I saw this, but the Stock market was almost exactly the same on both January 20, 2000 and January 20, 2004,

Yet the ReThugs keep saying how much better the Stock market is Now.

On the other hand, todays stock prices are real. That wasn't real money you made in the late 90's, it was a bubble, doncha know' :sarcasm:
