What's the point of asking for something (Rove resignation) that you are
powerless to deliver, and not only the enemy will laugh in your face for asking? Doesn't it just underscore the impotence of the Democratic Party?

I guess it's a rhetorical question... there's plenty of things we can't deliver that are worth asking for, like U.S. troops out of Iraq, because if nothing else it shows you are on the right side of the issue and may start to form the foundation of something when the critical mass of opinion starts to swing around to your side, where you CAN effect the change.

Inquiry into DSM that could lead to possible impeachment is worth asking for also. Even if we can't make it happen, as people become increasingly disenchanted with Iraq they can see who was on the right side of history which might inform their future votes, if they are counted...

But I see Rove as a much smaller issue, and this is my gut feeling, that it seems pointless to demand an apology and resignation from this guy. If Cheney wouldn't even apologize for telling a U.S. Senator to fuck themselves on government property, what's the point?

1. .
Turning public opinion against this person? Destroying the person just like they wanted to destroy Clinton?

2. I don't have any problem with expressing outrage against the man
and his remarks. It just seemed to me that specifically demanding his resignation wasn't worthwhile...

3. It's all part of the political game...
But you are correct - to a large degree. Parties demand apologies from each side all the time. Of course, you're not supposed to apologize. You give your side and they give their side. Public opinion will decide who is right - not the side who gives or wins the "apology". Rove will not apologize. They know that is not the way the game is played.

4. Yeah, except our side actually apologizes. (Tearing hair out)
