Oh and I should add that Dems out-number rethugs in NC but then again the label "Democrat" doesn't really mean much here.

yes, Billy Graham
I think Graham's son is a devout Republican, though.

7. I've heard that before what brings this up today?
As far as his son is concerned it's a different story, Franlin is a Bushbot neo-fascist.

12. He said in an interview that he's a lifelong Democrat (with Katie Couric).
And had some good things to say about the Clintons also who he is apparently friends with.

11. Are you saying Graham IS a Democrat? Or he's Democratic?
Because only Republicans refer to us, derisively, as the Democrat Party.
We have always been the Democratic Party, whose members call ourselves Democrats.

18. Old news
This may be getting a bit more airplay now, but I heard Billy Graham make the same proclamation many years ago. He has always said that he is a registered Democrat, never made a secret of it as far as I know. But like many Southern Democrats of that era, he may have voted Republican starting with Ronald Reagan or maybe even Nixon. Or maybe he hasn't. Who knows.

What I do admire about Billy Graham is that he has always been careful to keep the political side of his life private even as he has publicly been at the side of American presidents for many decades. Maybe he hasn't always seemed apolitical during certain times such as when he seemed too cozy with Richard Nixon, but I do believe that he has always tried to keep politics seperate from the message that he preaches. More than his recent declarations of party affiliation, I especially like that he is publicly stating that he believes politics should not become the major focus of religious leaders.

20. Very old, indeed.
He registered as a democrat in the 1950s, and has made an effort to be as nonpartisan as possible since the 1960s.
