A pledge to call Chickenhawks on their BS...
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 05:47 PM by Dr_eldritch
From now on, when I see that there will be a 'pro-Bush/pro-war/support the troops' rally anywhere in the country, I will take the minimal effort required to find the phone number for the local recruiters nearest to the event. I will call the recruiting station and inform them of the warm market opportunity represented by large numbers of "True Patriots who want to support the troops and do everything they can to help."

Recruiters are very high pressure salespeople who generally have no reservations about using guilt and shame to sell their product.

Way I see it, one of two things will happen;

1) The Army will make better recruiting progress.

2) These idiots will stop holding these rallies for fear of being called on their bullshit.

I estimate it would take under ten minutes to track down a recruiter near one of these events... and you can do it from anywhere.

So who here would like to pledge to sic recruiters on the Chickenhawks whenever they hear about one of these rallies?

35. A list of Repuke chickenhawks should be posted on all "liberal" blogs
and sent to media outlets and printed as a "Handbill" by Justicefornone.com. Handed out everywhere you shop, drink, dance, and dine.

5. I'm going to scour some 'conservative' sites tonight
and see how many rallies I can find.

Probably wouldn't hurt to check 'religious' sites that are pro-war either.

Heck- I'll look right now and post a link if I can find some.

Programing recruiting station numbers into cell. Maybe we should watch for the events and advise recruiters before the fact.

straight to the GOP headquarters and have them talk to their even planners?

The Army could employ... er, I mean 'help arrange' some 'support the troops' rallies and set up a nice convenient sign-up table.

Brilliant!

(I really have no idea if they've thought of this yet... maybe we should mention it.)

8. I found a whole stack of Marine Recruiter business cards....
in a local burger joint and of course, "liberated" them. I now hand them out to every chickenhawk, loud mouth, jerk who crows about their support for bush and his "grudge" war.
I've had a few tossed back at me, left in place wherever we are, a few pocketed, but to my knowledge no one has taken the jump into the Marines. Their reactions run the gamut from anger to mock laughter.
They love bush's oil grab, but when push comes to shove they don't want to put their lives on the line to back up their and their commander in chief's big mouths.

40. I love it...
Though I might take it a step further...

I remember back in the eighties when recruiters would call me and say, "Your friend so-and-so just told us you'd be an excellent asset to the country..."

So I'm thinking... Why not collect the names of freeper-types you interact with on a daily basis?

Shoot... I'm gonna put a Bush bumper-sticker on my car just so's I got some cred with some bushbots... enough that they give me their contact information.

"Yes, this fellow, Dr. Eldritch, told us you were a die-hard supporter of our efforts in Iraq and I'd like to know if you really do support the troops... Yes you do? Great... I'll tell you what, when's a good time for us to have a talk? ...Any place and time that's convenient for you..."

Gosh I'd love that.

I love the idea of helping our recruiting efforts!

Some of those studly sunglasses...even if it's cloudy...works, too. Wanna bet that rally breaks up quick? LOL.

But remember, those patriots think they better serve the "war effort" by being in "support roles"...like draining kegs with Weaseldick DeLay.

but I worry about the ramifications of 'impersonating' a military official.

It'd be way more fun to send the real thing. (Have you ever seen recruiters work someone over? It's beautiful... even if you've never been in sales.)

16. Just A 35mm and Army Jacket Could Do...
I think just the camera would freak them out. If anything, it would make for great viewing here.

Being one from the Vietnam era, I saw the Army recruiters in full glory. Several of my buddies even joined ROTC (most opted out) between the pressure of the recruiter (pay for college, great job opportunities, blah, blah) and their parents (I served in WWII and Korea, now it's your turn). I can only imagine the tactics they pull today.

Yep, it'd be great to see a horde of recruiters swoop down on these rejects from MTV's real life. LOL.

this kind of event.

Find a hook -- apply nationalism to anything, the 4rth, a Saint's feast, a sale on linoleum at HomeDepot.

Promo as "support the troops, support the President". Try to find a B list celeb or create one.

Invite recruiters.

Fish in a barrel, or sheep in a barrel -- more crowded and twice as ugly.

we might get a bit more exposure.

I might also suggest that we try to get someone to the event to document the outcome if possible, then we can post examples of Chickenshit Chickenhawks on DU.

23. Explain yourself.
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 06:41 PM by Dr_eldritch
You are obviously a disruptor.

So do you support the troops?

Are people who believe that pro-war zealots are truly chickenshit not patriots?

Do you realize this war was illegal?
No?

Lemme guess why... you don't actually listen to those who might know more than you do because you're told not to?

Or do you support the PNAC agenda?
If you know the agenda and support it, then your point has merit.

But lemme guess - you have no clue... right?

(oe) Ok, so I just reviewed most of your posts. Your disdain is apparent.

BTW- I am a Republican 'asshole' who believes we should be patriotic Americans. I think if you took the time to look around, you'll find many real conservatives are quite unhappy with the administration right now. Here's a start :http://www.geocities.com/grayband

If you think anti-war is anti-American, then you really need to get back to school.

Like I've said - if you understand the Imperial course America is on, then I can respect your opinion, but you don't understand the consequences of this agenda.

I'll be happy to explain it to you if you are interested in another point of view... but I sorely doubt that. Ignorance is becoming exclusive to bushbots.

Mods - if he really has a point, I'd like to debate it with him.

31. Thanks, but I personally find my responses to be pointed and
adversarial.

I can be a real ass sometimes... or at least that's how I see myself.

(You ever go through practitioner-patient relationship training? My clients outwardly hate that I can be so stark... I tell it like it is, but I believe they actually appreciate it.)

Thanks though - I really have difficulty recognizing that I've said something constructive sometimes.

(No wonder people go into psychology...)

29. It would be a dirty trick.
I don't think people were given any indication they would or would not be targetted for solicitation. Still, it would be an abuse to hand their names over to recruiters or other third parties. If MoveOn and ACT were to send some form of well crafted literature implying that war supporters should step up to the plate, I don't think that would be an abuse. Something to make the Bush supporters really think about the consequences of their votes...

I like your idea, BTW.

39. Now that's wicked!
I can just picture some recruiters outside of a church with signs that read, "Support the Troops". When the congregation leaves, they stop to show their support for the troops, but when they refuse to sign up, or let their kids sign up, the recruiters tell them it's sad they, "Can't show their support."

Love it.

You're evil.

But of course MOST churches aren't in support of the war... just a pecentage.
