I must say, the two differing rulings on the Ten Commandments were...
Very reasonable.

Can't force the doctrine of the ten commandments on people in a courtroom as an imposed sanctioning of a specific set of religious beliefs by the government.

Okay to put them up in the public arena with private funds as this implies religious neutrality on the part of the government. The funny thing on this one is, if it's okay for one religious group to put its religious stuff on the State House lawn with private funds, then ANYBODY ELSE can do the same.

Here's hoping that some Texas Pagans put a Goddess statue on their State House lawn with private funds, preferably a nude statue!

1. Might be fun to check some Pagan message boards and see if any group
might be starting a fund drive to do just such a thing. ;)

4. I've always wanted to do a Wiccan Nativity scene for Yule
You'd have three women, one a young girl as Maiden, one as the Mother, and the Wise Crone around a manger.

In the Manger would be a baby with goat legs and a goatee beard.

In the background would be a dark figure with stag antlers.

Let the Wiccans, the Satanists and the atheists bring in their displays.

8. I can see it now!
A statue of Aleister Crowley holding a copy of The Book of the Law, sort of gazing out to the future with the 666 tattoo square in the center of his forehead.

10. at first I was upset
about allowing them on courthouse lawns...but your post has me rethinking my initial reaction.

So here's my question...can this pair of rulings truly be used to allow other religious displays, or is anything that isn't judeo-christian s.o.l. because it's not part of U.S. history?

Following up, however...a lot of pagan displays could be created with a Native American theme. hmmmmm.

17. Um, I'd just like to point out that the 10

13. I'd Love To See a Five Pointed Star and an Upside Crucifix W/ "666" Blazed
across them.

That would really get some people's knickers in a twist.
