Well, the "Democratic presidential candidates" will be there, but I'm not sure if all of them will show up and stay. To have dinner, you have to give $1,000+ - outrageous, only the rich can afford it. For us middle class folks, they have a after dinner party for *only* $100 - and there damned well better be an open bar. At the Sheraton in NYC of course, only the finest hotels for our Democratic leaders!

I can't wait to meet Dennis Kucinich! I'm probably the only supporter of his that can afford $100!

1. This is something that is truly lacking in America anymore.
No normal person can afford $1000 for a goddamned dinner party, and even $100 is pretty steep. Why don't Democrats have some cheap fundraisers for a change. Beer and a dog for $5 or something. Jebus. How the hell can you expect to connect with the people when they can't afford to hear to talk?

My SO and I talk about this all the time. We have been dues paying members for several years and became active after the selection. We were shocked that the state offices of a party that's supposed to be the "people's" party hosts fundraisers that the "people" can't afford. I've cut them some slack in that I know they believe they have to compete financially with the pukes but I think they'd end up with more money and spread the messages further if they took it in $10 at a time rather than $100 or $500 in one case.

on edit: typo

8. Beetwasher, you mean the $100 after party?
That's where I'll be, no way I can afford $1000 for dinner - is there an after-after party? If not, I'm having one at my apartment (about four blocks away from the Sheraton) - post or message for details.

5. Can't afford it, too far away
I might have actually thought about going to a hundred dollar dinner before my husband lost his job. Now I don't think I'll ever look at money the same way again.
