Rush going after Clark
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_092303/content/quotes.guest.html

"In 1994, General Clark was in charge of U.S. military operations when UN peacekeepers were prevented from intervening in the slaughter of nearly one million Rwandans - and now he poses as a man concerned about civil rights and bigotry?"

so who was in charge of Clark when he was in charge of the operations?

who gave the order for him not to intervene?

1. You know what's funny about that
was that Clark was one of the few people lobbying for intervention in rwanda. I mean, this is classic rush "black-is-white" propaganda

2. LIES AND THE LYING LIARS WHO TELL THEM
Grr, this pisses me off. Clark was a HUGE proponent of intervening to stop the Rwanda massacre.

Don't know the answer to your question, Dave, but my guess is that it came from Clinton or thereabouts.

15. THIS IS GREAT, GREAT NEWS!!!

This will show us if all the lies, distortion and smears the republicans will absolutely barrage Clark with...if he can handle them.

We will see if Clark knows how to get in mud with these republican assholes and play hardball and still be able to set the record straight.

If some little thing, like the pigman Limbaugh throwing out his usual garbage for the other radio talking heads and the corporate media to pick up on...is enough to shake up Clark, then he’s not worth supporting and will never get anywhere anyway.

I don’t think that’s the case though…I think Clark knew this shit was coming (how could he not) and he’ll be ready for all the republican and media's bullshit lies…the only question is, (as it is for all democrats) will the right-wing corporate media allow Clark to get the real truth out and set the record straight?

26. I saw the Big Dog speak here in Florida about 6 months ago and
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 01:55 PM by caledesi
he said that "not intervening in Rwanda was the most regrettable decision of his presidency." <yeah, he admits his mistakes and takes responsibility unlike *>

BTW, as I have mentioned many times here - What an orator! He is so intelligent, and speaks so clearly - it was like being at the best college lecture of your life.

(He appeared at the Univ of Florida...10,000 people, mostly students...standing O...and he looked great)

Here's an article on his trip to Rwanda and his comments on the atrocities that occurred there.

edit: usual stuff

4. LIAR!!
Limbaugh, you fucking, sniveling, chickenhawk LIAR!

I'm off to search for a link, but I've read in more than one place that Clark pushed hard to intervene in Rwanda, and was overruled by his superiors at the Pentagon.

Oh, I want that fat fuck called on the carpet for that one.....how DARE that racist scumbag try to appropriate those tragic deaths in the intersts of a fabricated smear against a democratic candidate.

Analyzes why America is hesitant to use force to stop genocide.

The only one she praises for lobbying hard to intervene in Rwanda - General Wesley Clark.

14. Yep
And she also said this about Kosovo:

"The man who contributed more than any single individual to Milosevic's battlefield defeat was Gen. Wesley Clark. The NATO bombing campaign succeeded in removing brutal Serb police units from Kosovo, in ensuring the return of 1.3 million Kosovo Albanians, and in securing the Albanians right to self-governance. Yet in Washington Clark was a pariah. In July 1999 he was curtly informed that he would be replaced as supreme allied commander for Europe. This forced his retirement and ended thirty-four years of distinguished military service. Favoring humanitarian intervention had never been a great career move."

-page 473, A Problem from Hell, Samantha Power

Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 12:47 PM by Bleachers7
Rush didn't want us in there.

From Limpballs himself:

"He selected Kosovorather than Ethiopia or Rwanda or any other place to intervene because he knew he could gain the support of NATO. He knew that air power wouldn't stop Milosevic but would instead accelerate the removal of the Kosovars."

16. Wasn't there a Republican that was Sec of Defense in 1994?
Isn't that what Defense Dept. does? I think that is why there are so many departments is so the President doesn't have to be involved in each and every decision. Granted the Buck stops at the President's office and that is exactly why there is no stopping of any bucks in this administration. There is NO President. Only a figurehead that was appointed.

23. Exactly - GOP'er Cohen was Dept of Def Sec - and waited 3 weeks
to make a decision - we needed bi-partisan support - at which point 800000 were dead - so no decision needed.

It was the fastest most massive killing that I can remember.

25. The RW has to "Gore" Clark now
Yes, they're mortally afraid that Clark can usurp Bush. But they're also popping Valiums because he will be a highly effective advocate against their penchant for launching ill-founded wars. People will listen to him, much more than they will to any other candidate.

Slowly, the Repugs are being stripped of their weapons. And they don't like it one bit.

first it's clark's insane and he uses dr strangelove as the theme

then some convuluted gone with the wind nickname that few people get and even fewer find funny that supposedly plays off the fact that he's 'hillary's puppet'

than he calls him the stepford candidate and says he stands for nothing-ever heard of arnold, rush?

nothing's working. it's hilarious to listen to how frustrated clark makes rush

and, of course, he can't attack clark fromt the left like some here do, because any charge he would make, dumbya and dick are giulty of 100 times over

Do you know all our other candidates are Satanic demons who are of a blood sucking cult that will eat your babies alive in the womb???----if you don't, just wait to see who emerges as our nominee and I'll guarantee you that that is about the speed of what Rush will tell his spell bound, pond scum listeners. And in the back room, Rove is frantically typing.........
