Italy Wants to Extradite 13 CIA Officials - They're not backing down
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=535&e=5&u=/ap/20050628/ap_on_re_eu/italy_cia

The Egyptian preacher was snatched in 2003, purportedly as part of the CIA's "extraordinary rendition" program in which terror suspects are transferred to third countries without court approval, subjecting them to possible ill treatment.

The order for the arrests in the transfer of the cleric — made public last Friday — was a rare public objection to the practice by a close American ally in its war on terrorism.

1. Awww... now those poor CIA agents will never get to travel to Italy.
I mean, that's about the extent of what this will do. We're not about to give them up. Remember, even Henry Kissinger can't travel to several countries (Spain and Chile among them) for fear of being arrested as a war criminal.

2. I would feel "extraordinary" if Henry was rendered to a Chilean mob.

12. Kissinger is wanted in Portugal and France as well, i believe
When Chile turned into a bloodbath with the coup against Allende, it wasn't just Chilean citizens who got killed.

3. holy cow - U.S. war criminals?
that is a sad state of affairs.

I think I will watch Judgement at Nuremberg again tonight, and watch the Germans try to explain how they didn't really know anything, and think of pathetic Republicans talking about how gay marriage will ruin our way of life.

"Ernst Janning: Judge Haywood... the reason I asked you to come. Those people, those millions of people... I never knew it would come to that. YOU must believe it, YOU MUST believe it.

Judge Dan Haywood: Herr Janning, it came to that the first time you sentenced a man to death you knew to be innocent."

Abu Ghraib, anyone??

10. So the U.S. is harboring terrorists.
Isn't that why we invaded Afghanistan?
