and as a part-time journalist myself, i hate the thought of people extrapolating some limitations on the first amendment rights of a free press from this example of greedy, power-hungry ass-kissing press prostration.

"I think you should reveal the name of the person who leaked Valerie Plame's name to you. The person you are protecting was not a whistleblower on governmental wrongdoing unless you regard all covert CIA agents who work on protecting us from WMDs as wrongdoers. Do you? If so, I think you are very, very wrong.

The person who revealed Valerie Plame's name was himself a wrongdoer, going after Valerie Plame as a way to punish her husband, Ambassador Wilson, for telling the truth about one of Bush's WMD claims.

Please Judith, do the right thing and be a whistleblower on governmental wrongdoing yourself, and reveal the name of the person who did this.

And ask yourself this; would he go to jail to protect you, as you're about to go to jail to protect him?

I think everyone should email her and ask her to reveal her source.

Frankly, I think she should be doing jail time just for the crap she wrote about WMDs in the NYT, but that's a separate issue.
