5. Summer Vacation
Remember, this is a TV series, not a news show. It only is budgeted and scheduled for so many shows per season (as per contracts). While most shows will film all their episodes at once, The Daily Show stretches it out over the year...and many times has to guess its downtimes.

Also, right now Colbert is busy working on his new show for the fall, and I'm sure various cast members and others are out west working on movie and other projects (part of their new sweet deal with Comedy Central).

I'm glad the show goes on vacation now and then, since when Jon comes back it's usually loaded for bear and recharged. Face it, if you had to do this show every night, trying to make light of the most depressing events in our history, you'd need a break, too.

6. They mentioned they were changing studios...
and it's the middle of the week, so it was pretty unexpected. I'm glad for a break every now and then, because I'm not obligated to watch every single night, but it was a surprise nonetheless.

7. Typical Summer Stuff
I saw that, too...and thought that was just one excuse JS was using.

The good thing is this show has been renewed for several years...thus the move to bigger and better digs...and is the network's #1 show. It's not going anywhere and Stewart and other TDS members are free to do their own projects.

I'm always concerned that a show as good as TDS can get stale from its own weight. Saturday Night Live is a textbook example. Watching Weekend Update now is painful...far from the cutting edge satire it once was.

Cheers

8. Right
I love the show myself but I know what y'all are saying. So they're not on for the rest of the summer? When does Stephen's show start? Anybody know an official date? I got the new dvd and it's great! Love it.
