except the same old trite bullshit, repeated over and over, that we heard tonight?

I didn't. The entire Iranian Army could have joined the "insurgents" and had our army cut to rags and surrounded in a desperate last stand like in the movie Beau Geste, and he would have said the same fucking thing.

We all knew it, didn't we?

I would have been really suprised if he just came up and said, "fuck it, I fucked up in Iraq. My vendetta got the country in a mess. We have already begun a complete withdrawl of troops from Iraq. Half will be diverted to Afghanistan to hunt for Bin Laden. The rest will come home."

But, he didn't say that.

the speech (which I hadn't) and that you were saying you were intrigued by what you thought might have been the source of his carrying on like that.

The commentary on PBS afterwards was pretty fun. Even the "conservative" panelists thought he didn't do so hot.
