Finally, it all makes sense.
I watched the speech earlier and on the umpteenth reference to 9/11, it just clicked.

I get Iraq now.

Or at least kind of.

It's about 9/11.

See, 9/11 was bin Laden's response to our unilateral support for Israel, our permanent troops in Saudi Arabia, and our frequent incursions into the Middle East, especially Iraq (see his 1998 fatwa).

So, the logical response was to invade Iraq.
