I watched "Private Warriors" on Frontline
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 07:00 AM by undeterred
last night. I knew there were contractors in Iraq, but I didn't realize how many and that some are in roles which conflict with the military (like providing "security").

Way to make some good money fast, if you survive. They make around $500 per day.

Damn it....We need, REALLY need John Kerry to stand the hell up and shoot these guys down! If he won't do it, its gotta be Dean from the DNC. It's time.

3. It's not Dean's job.
It's not just Kerry's job, either. We need all the dem congresspeople to stand up and start opposing the prosecution of this war and the fraud, waste and abuse that exists. One voice, loudly stating its opposition.

7. actually there are a lot of companies besides Haliburton
that's what surprised me. Cooking for the military has been outsourced to private companies- it probably costs a friggin' fortune.

9. Yes, but how many does Cheney have such a vested interest in?
Sweet deal for Cheney and Halliburton. I have the extreme misfortune of being very closely related to Corp Hdqtrs and Human Resources through family. Thank god now all she does is "arbitration".

4. Do we know how many wounded and killed ?
How many private security contractors have been wounded or killed? Does the Pentagon keep that statistic?

8. I will look for some info on that
The security company in the frontline piece said that they had lost 26 contractors and killed something like 78.

What is the legal status of killing between contractors and insurgents? They aren't part of the military, and they are defending their own lives, but there is no law in place that would ever investigate these killings. Its a chaotic mess.
