Godfather II: Michael Corleone "got it". Why doesn't shrubco?

In the film, Michael was in pre-Castro Havana to "divide up the spoils" of Cuba with a bunch of other, thinly disguised, "legit" corporate criminals ("United" Telephone and Telegraph, etc.) They even carve up a symbolic Cuba cake at their meeting.

Then when he's taking a cab through town, he sees a suicide bomber blow up some police/troops. This makes a profound impression upon him, seeing how the rebels are willing to DIE for their cause. Leading him to hedge on committing his full financial investment. Shortly afterwards, the Batista regime falls and everyone has to flee the country.

Does shrubco "get it" even now?

2. Say what you want about the Michael Corleone character,

but, as he was written and portrayed, he was extremely intelligent. One of the over-riding themes and ironies of that whole series was what a waste a mind like that was in a mobster.

Of course he "got it". For anyone to think that our CIC "gets it" and just ignores it is missing one of the over-riding themes and ironies of this administration... what a waste a mind like Bush's is in a supposed "leader". And, because of his lack of intelligence, and his inability to grasp the complexities and nuances of true leadership out of the fix he's gotten us so arrogantly into, we are scah-rewed.

End of story.

I think you know the answer. Either too stupid or since they aren't personally at risk, don't care. After all, Michael was protecting HIS investment. This gang doesn't have their own money at risk. It's all public funds.

5. Not only

do they not have their own money at risk, they are profiting handsomely, both in direct profits to their crony contractors, but also the indirect profits from the risk premium in world oil prices.

They also have no lives at stake as the neocons and their attendant chattering class have been given a pass on their own and their family's chickenhawk status.
