Helicopter hit by hostile fire, but not known what brought it down???

Let's see, The helicopter was HIT by hostile fire, but it was not known what brought it down. Now I'm no fucking genius but.....

~snip~ WASHINGTON, June 29 - An American military helicopter transporting troops that crashed in a rugged area of eastern Afghanistan was hit by hostile fire, the military said today, but it was not known if that is what brought it down.

The craft came under fire as it approached its landing zone, and crashed about a half-mile to a mile away, said Col. Jim Yonts, a spokesman in Kabul.

Why does everything have to be such a mystery these days ? I think there was a memo to all reporters recently that stated....

"No matter what the story... make it "MYSTERIOUS"...."
Name any recent headline that has gotten major play. What is in common with all those stories ? There is something "mysterious" about it all. *grrrrrr
I guess mystery sells. I know lies do.

A helicopter is hit by hostile fire, presumably suffering battle damage, and it is not known what brought it down. True, it is not known with absolute metaphysical certitude .. but reasonable people would assume at this point that the helicopter was shot down.

So I guess many of those "shoot-downs" on the Ho Chi Minh Trail I worked were probably something else. If you heard a "MAYDAY!", saw an F-4C coming off a target trailing thick black smoke, and spotted two good 'chutes, it was probably pilot-error in the Bu$h/Cheney/Rummy Orwellian world.

Fuck those guys. Let them get their asses over there and ride a helicopter into a "hot" LZ. Those bastards put out shit like this and can keep a straight face criticizing Newsweek?
