TBN: American Christian Extremist Plans For China's New Theocracy?
Here is the article in question: http://www.tbn.org/about/newsletter/index.php/art:109

Wondering - After reading the article, what do you think about this?

Apparently Paul Croach (or TBN) is trying to get the government of China to adopt a Christianity that teaches loyalty to the government, etc etc broadcast in all regions China on TV. A new sect of Christianity in the making? Maybe it can be called "Commuloyaltian".

Personally I am surprised the Chinese government doesn't have him "disappear" while he is in Chinese borders.

This sounds to me like some serious evil going down though.

1. Chinese government using a new religious scheme to gain blind loyalty to a government. (sounds like an Osama wet dream)

2. Revolution? What if this gets out of hand? i.e. People begin converting to christianity in a non favorable manner - chinese government decides this isn't so good after all - starts a "final solution" to remove the christians? Not exactly something you could put past them considering how fast the Chinese government is willing to kill dissidents in large numbers if need be.

3. Local persecution. From what I understand religion isn't thought very high of. Will these new christians be abused/murdered/persecuted?

I find it hard to see China going along with TBN here, but they have been able to get in to EVERY other nation on this planet - even the middle east - so who knows...

1. I don't see it being successful.

Buddhism, Taoism seem to be well entrenched in China. I don't know why these people tthink that their version of God is any more relevant than the deep religious traditions that have been long established in SE Asia.

They'd be far better off getting their own religious house in order than trying to win converts to justify their own moral shortcomings.

Bunch of arrogant, self-righteous bastards.

2. new kind of missionaries
Not the mainstream going for certain classes or the mainstream population, also useful for cultural dominance. Not even the naive fundamentalist pure missionaries setting up shop.

No, find all the ignorant, desoerate nutcases in every country, whip upo their fear and anger and sense of self-importance. Turn THEM into fanatics for OUR cultural revolution and empire.

This is a lot scarier than past efforts, state sponsored or not. Replacing Islamic fundmaentalists or the unwashed ignorant with a Christian option by appealing to personality, psychological types is hardly likely, but the second manifestation of fanaticism would be worse than the first, divorced from any logical self and social interest that might conflict with the corporate vision.

And this group, hand in hand with the wealthy and the criminal state, would dominate the majority of humanity?

Heavenly dreams.

3. I'm surprised that he hasn't gotten lost in his wife's hair, no less China
Jan is Tammy Faye with more hair. I do like to watch TD Jakes, and he is on TBN. That man can preach!
