Homegrown Terrorists in England?
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 09:48 AM by DFWdem
I found this article from a British newspaper. Can anyone from across the pond tell me how reliable this newspaper, the Evening Standard, is?

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/londonnews/articles/10329634?source=Evening%20Standard

"As far as I'm concerned, when they bomb London, the bigger the better," says Abdul Haq, the social worker. "I know it's going to happen because Sheikh bin Laden said so. Like Bali, like Turkey, like Madrid - I pray for it, I look forward to the day."

"I agree with you, brother," says Abu Yusuf, the earnest-looking financial adviser sitting opposite. "I would like to see the Mujahideen coming into London and killing thousands, whether with nuclear weapons or germ warfare. And if they need a safehouse, they can stay in mine - and if they need some fertiliser , I'll tell them where to get it."

"I made a decision that I wanted to follow what Islam really said," Sayful begins, sitting on his sofa in his thowb (a traditional robe) and bare feet. "I went to listen to all the local imams, but I found their portrayal of Islam was too secularised. When I heard Sheikh Omar of al-Muhajiroun speak, it was pure Islam, with no compromise. I found that appealing."

I found this quote particularly interesting. It reminded me of something I heard from our own dear leader:

"When I watched those planes go into the Twin Towers, I felt elated," he says. "That magnificent action split the world into two camps: you were either with Islam and al Qaeda, or with the enemy."

You are either with Islam and al Qaeda, or with the enemy. Where have we heard that type of rhetoric before?

1. Averagely reliable for British newspapers
The organisation al-Muhajiroun does exist - they are extremists who did indeed cheeer 9/11. How many members is has, or if it's ever done anything more than talk and print posters, I'm not sure.

It is quite possible, and in fact almost inevitable, that some British citizens would want to set off bombs here due to an extremist Islamist belief; the question is whether they can get hold of the explosive to do it (the thought is that fertiliser-based explosive wouldn't have been able to do the damage from the small packages they would have carried on the Tube).

2. It's one of London's dailies,
and one of Murdoch's, I'm certain. An inconsequential little rag, really.

Note how this fanatic acknowledges that he's never experienced racism in the UK, though. And one on a fast-track to Cambridge. Also, their chickenhawk decision not to leave here even though Islam forbids them to attack a country which has given them a home. If they want to kill themselves and others to get into Paradise they have to go somewhere else to do it. And, you know, they have to stay here and make speeches and shit.

Remind you of anyone?

4. Not Murdoch, but Associated Newspapers (Daily Mail)
Not that that makes a lot of difference to the viewpoint.
