and thus was hoping for the best for our Andy, but I knew it was an uphill battle. Never met Andy, but I'm going to miss him just the same.

election fraud. The voters didn't commit fraud.

he worked for voter verified paper ballots - note ballots, not trails.

11. I'm having a terrible time trying to work
I can't seem to focus on anything else.

Last night when I went to bed knowing that Andy was very ill, I said a little prayer to my parents who have both passed that if Andy passed over I asked them to help welcome him to the other side. I just didn't know it would be so soon.

but I can't help but wonder why someone like Andy is gone and Cheney, Rummy, Renquist and all the other Repug crooked, lying, stealing, coniving, murderous thugs live so long.

20. It's raining in Seattle today
Funeral Blues

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood,
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

W. H. Auden

24. Andy's biz-card from his short run for Sec of state in WA.
A scan of a little memento Andy gave me at a Dem meetup downtown Seattle in the fall of 2003. I figure this is the time to share.
Andy inspired me to volunteer as a counter in the WA Gov race hand count.

25. I'm stunned.
I thought infections were easily treatable, and after surviving all he did, I couldn't imagine the infection would take him -- not until the ominous message last night.

Apparently his recovery was complicated by a minor stroke, and allergies to some antibiotics. No doubt his body was weakened by all of that. (Having said that, I don't know whether it was the infection or a stroke or something else that caused his death.)

:(

26. i am not completely stuck, but...
...i am sad yet in awe of the cycle of life.

when i went to bed last night, the post from benburch about andy resting comfortably with family at his side was fairly new and ominous. i kept reading and reading it to see what had happened. i hadn't been here most of the day. i finally realized he was in bad shape and that i'd know more in the morning. and sure enough, i found out very first thing, even before coffee. the computer booted up especially fast today!

anyway, when andy was strongest in my thoughts last night was the moment he was passing. he was here with me, or his spirit was. i never met him, but shot a post or two back and forth, and i donated to his cause. but i was in tune with his death. i felt that prominently this morning.

then i talked to him and told him thanks for coming by. i also asked him to continue his work from the other side. does anybody else talk to their dead friends like that? i do it all the time. i told him to kick some ass and get gwb to make things right.

now that i've been up for about five hours, it is really sinking in what has happened. andy lost the battle with his cancer, after a very emotional several months. i think about termite. i think about all of andy's friends and family that i don't know. i pray for all of us left here, because andy is in no more pain. he is free.

so, i don't feel stuck, i'm just in awe of the cycle of life. i have a long car ride ahead of me today to the airport, so i'll be pondering this even more.

30. it's amazing
I posted a note to him on DU hoping to give him comfort letting him know that if he passed, we'd carry on the fight in his name and he would live forever through the work we do - I checked the time of that post and it looks like it was when he was passing. I too talked to him this morning. :)

34. feel him now - cut from the same cloth - thanks Andy
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 12:15 AM by helderheid
This will sound crazy but I felt a blanket put around my shoulders as I cried saying I didn't want him to be gone. And then I heard "we're cut from the same cloth"

color me crazy but I feel he truly lives on with each and every one of us in our hearts and thoughts.
