Fellow Young Republicans,

I would like to welcome you to the official site of the 2005 Young Republican National Convention. On behalf of all the Nevada Young Republicans, Nevada Governor Kenny C. Guinn, and the rest of Nevada’s elected officials we are extremely excited about you visiting our Great State and the wonderful city of Las Vegas! Our convention committee has been working very hard for over 18 months to plan the most exciting YRNC ever. With the City of Las Vegas as the backdrop for this event we are confident that we will exceed all expectations.

The YRNC 2005 Committee has chosen a first class hotel in Las Vegas to host this historic event. The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is a premiere Resort destination in Las Vegas. With all the amenities imaginable, Mandalay Bay is a Resort you’ll never want to leave. The Convention facilities at the Mandalay Bay offer the Young Republicans the latest technology. You’ll find that it will be very easy to navigate through the convention center, with digital reader boards and an entire wing of the convention center the Young Republicans will find they have everything they need.

YRNC COCKTAIL RECEPTION
During the final evening of YRNC 2005, the committee has planned a no-host cocktail reception that will take place in the Palm Foyer--immediately following the Awards Banquet. This will give attendees an opportunity to mingle with each other on the last night of our 2005 convention.

Additionally, The Honorable Judge James Rogan will be doing a book signing in the Palm Foyer. This will be a very fun and interactive event for all--a nice way to wind down after a busy week!

FUTURE OF MARRIAGE PANEL:
The issue regarding the FUTURE OF MARRIAGE in America has become a hot topic over the past couple years. This panel will offer unique perspectives from individuals who have taken up this fight across the United States. We hope to provide members with an opportunity to hear from both sides on this issue. There will be discussions on legislation, activism and political idealism. All of our panels will be interactive, allowing for participants to ask questions of panelists.

SOCIAL SECURITY PANEL:
With SOCIAL SECURITY being a priority for President Bush and his Administration we felt it incumbent upon us to offer a frank discussion on the topic. We will be featuring National Speakers who have stepped up to assist in creating a strong dialogue on the Social Security topic. We will be announcing our participants in this panel soon, who will be traveling from all across the country to participate in this discussion. All of our panels will be interactive, allowing for participants to ask questions of panelists.

VEGAS NIGHT:
YRNC 2005 has offered this night for attendees to explore the lights of Las Vegas on their own. Many of you have never been to Las Vegas and have not had the opportunity to see all the City of Las Vegas has to offer. With dozens of hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, hundreds of bars and clubs, attendees will not have a problem finding a place in which to enjoy all Las Vegas has to offer!

4. Cheap fuckers'll congregate at my hotel/casino, I just KNOW it!!
I work at the closest place to Mandalay with a preponderance of low-limit ($3 and $5) games. They'll go into the pit at Mandalay Bay, see all the $10, $15 and $25+ minimum signs and then come flocking to places where they can play on a $20 bill for half an hour or more and get drunk for cheap. And just like in New York at the RNC, they won't tip for shit.

I'll report back with a comparison of our tips for the duration of the convention as compared to the weeks preceeding it. It would actually be quite nice to be proven wrong on this one.

16. Your moniker is one of my favorite bands
Saw them at the Academy of Music in NYC in 1974 as the warm-up band for Focus. Have most of their albums on vinyl.

Hope you're proven wrong about the tips.

5. All white people. Want to bet they're all Christians?
Every photo is a white person. Do they realize they look like an all-white club? Do they not care how pasty they all look? Do they have any non-whites?

7. Mandalay Bay has a topless pool
According to the excerpt Bluebear posted, the Young Republicans' website tells them: "With all the amenities imaginable, Mandalay Bay is a Resort you’ll never want to leave."

Indeed. One of those amenities is Moorea Beach, a topless pool in the European style. I wonder whether the "family values" crowd knew that when they picked Mandalay Bay as the site for their gathering. Are they perhaps expecting Mary Carey?

Note to mods: This isn't a sex thread. It's a hypocrisy thread.

the "Future of Marriage Panel", or maybe head out to a brothel for a quickie. You're right, it is about the hypocrisy.

11. Shouldn't Audra and Allie be off finding husbands...
and staying home with the children (or at least making some...nothing kinky though)? That's what my dear Senator Santorum seems to think. Or does that not apply to Republican women? Only to Democratic women like us here at DU who might fall prey, if we haven't already, to the liberal ideas of "radical feminisim." And another thing, isn't gambling, visiting bars and clubs, and generally breathing in Las Vegas kind of counter to all of those "Christian" family values that I'm sure will be preached at this convention. Shouldn't it be held somewhere more sedate like Salt Lake City or Bob Jones University?

Sorry, just a rant. Wait, I'm not sorry. It's the truth.
