For your Yahoo rating pleasure: Rove's lawyer admits Rove was source
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 06:26 PM by Bluebear

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050710/pl_afp/usjusticemediarove_050710203623

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Top White House aide Karl Rove discussed a former US ambassador and his CIA agent wife with a Time magazine reporter, according to a report.

The Newsweek weekly quoted Rove lawyer Robert Luskin as confirming that Rove was the source who gave information to Time reporter Matt Cooper under a pledge of confidentiality, and last week released him to testify about that conversation to a grand jury.

Cooper had been ordered by a US federal judge to testify before the grand jury investigating whether the agent's identity was illegally leaked.

Rove, President George W. Bush's deputy chief of staff, has never publicly acknowledged talking to any reporter about former ambassador Joseph Wilson or his wife, Valerie Plame.

2. Soooo, in other words...
Either Ruskin, Rove or both were knowingly lying last week when they were denying Rove;s involvement?

Sweet. Now, let's see if people have basic cognitive skills and pick up on this.

15. Well, here is what I am thinking...
...and just for what it is worth:

When Matt Cooper decided to testify, he stated that he did so because his source gave him an unequivocal OK to do so. The interesting part about this? It happened AFTER the attorneys for Rove and Cooper met with USAtty Fitzgerald. Just a gut reaction, but Karl could be looking at not only perjury and obstruction of justice charges, but he is looking at the big one, too: A violation of 50 USC 421 for outing Plame.

Bottom line: I smell that a deal might be in the air and Rove is the one making it. Just really, really a gut reaction, tho, but maybe Rove is about to cut a deal and that is why the spin is off from his atty as to his involvement. However, keep one thing in mind: If Rove cuts a deal, then he has to give the USAtty something he wants for the deal. I am wondering what that could possibly be. Just a feeling, but to me it is starting to smell a lot like Watergate where the big guys did not go down for the crime, the break in of the DNC HQ, but the for cover-up. Maybe Rove gave someone over on this.

I can only hope.....

26. Question
With Rove getting caught in this, doesn't it give proof to the DSM that the facts where indeed "fixed around the policy"?

50. Plamegate is an example of fixing Intel to fit policy...
But, was it to discredit the husband's report, or
was it to destroy researching WMDs by outing the wife while blaming the outing on the husband/wife nepotism, or
a little of both?

It's ONE example.
It lends credibility to the notion.
It lends credibility to the veracity of other stories, e.g. OSP.

If it's enough proof for you. GO with it.

Careful, Rove might be found not guilty. BUT, we do know that it was a Bush admin official that did the outing. We don't know who. And, Bush won't ask them to tell him.
