This from Dan Froomkin's WaPo chat today on Rove/Plame caught my eye:

Colorado Springs, Colo.: From what we've learned from Matt Cooper's e-mail, it sounds like his info was single-sourced. Is there more from what Times Magazine has turned over that we haven't heard about? And, how was the e-mail revealed if this was suppose to be "secret?"

Dan Froomkin: Actually, it's been established that Cooper called Libby the next day, and confirmed it with him...

We all have ideas about what Karl Rove's operations entail, but can someone enlighten me why Libby might have been a central player in all of this? I understood him to be less a political operator than a policy advisor to Cheney (he's officially Cheney's chief of staff and assistant to the VP for national security affairs), but he seems to have been at the center of this blatantly political effort to retaliate against an administration critic to the press. Would be curious what people know about Libby's role in the WH.

practically daily.... During the lead up to the war, they were there all the time pressuring them to "see things their way"... People who have since left the agency (after Poerte Goss' arrival) said they had NEVER seen such pressure from a vice president.

Well, now ... that proves CONSPIRACY TO OBSTRUCT JUSTICE. Let's try hard to remember - when this broke 2 years ago, the CIA investigated and turned it over for a federal grand jury, and the Chimperor made his proclamations of cooperation and discipline.

Now we have proof that Libby knew that Rove leaked it to Cooper! Until now, Libby kept quiet. That's obstruction.

At some point between around March and the first of July, Libby held a meeting (attendees unknown) where it was decided to do a "work-up" on Wilson. After this was done, Libby went around the WH openly talking about Wilson, calling him an "asshole playboy". Rove took information on Wilson to others in the administration.

This was happening BEFORE Wilson wrote his article on July 6, so obviously the WH knew that Wilson had the goods on the Niger forgeries, and might expose it.

Now, why was Libby tasked with collecting the dirt on Wilson? I think because the order came from Cheney. Cheney later claimed he didn't even know who Wilson was, but that is obviously a lie.

Last August he was facing jail and Libby gave him express permission to testify. It was in all the papers. So this is old news and I don't know why his name isn't being included now. Between Rove & Libby, who do you think knew who Valerie Plame was first? This goes straight to Dick Cheney and nobody is talking about it.
