Let's play global political hypocrisy

Now here is a game that really counts. It's played by kings, queens, presidents, and prime ministers. It's played by diplomats, corporate big wigs, rock idols, and world class actors. Here is the game for the twenty first century. This game is user friendly, stylish, trendy, and botox-tight. It's the rage in Monte Carlo, Cannes, Paris, and New York. London and Sydney and Singapore and of course, Geneva.

Let's take a look at the rules, or the rule, for there's only one: It is better to look marvelous than to feel marvelous. (Apologies to Billy Crystal, but the line fits.)

Geldof and the Live 8 thing looked great. I am assuming here. I watched a little of it, because Pink Floyd did the show. History in the making, and MTV interrupts Pink Floyd with the little talking head girlie, and that ended it for me. It also ended the television. I got so enraged, I tossed my boot at the television, and it's toast. History and gone the way of the red tennis shoe. I'll have to buy my Mary a new television, but we both agreed that since there isn't anything to watch on television anyway, it can wait until sometime in future. Temper control has never been my strong suit.

So, Sir Bob, did you raise that awareness and make poverty history? By the by, Bob, poverty isn't the problem. Poverty is only a symptom. Hey, Bob, I'll bet not a one of the world's starving children went to bed with a full stomach that Live 8 night. That's how global political hypocrisy is played. It's better to look marvelous than to feel marvelous.
