I'm Going to Donate to DU-Here's Why
Since my introduction to this site over 2 years ago I have obtained lots of knowledge, and furthered my left wing stance on issues. That seemed to be the most important mission of posting and reading on this website when I was younger, but in a few short months I began to realize what posting here is turning me into.

It's a strange thing when a person watches themself grow into something more powerful that most, smarter, more agile and with the uncanny ability to get the point across in a stinging, yet humorous manner. When someone's confidence level grows to the point of taking action over inaction is when they become an activist.

I'm going to continue to praise DU as a community of activists. You all are a great group of people and deserve a pat on the back for what you do. I put trust in the opinions of my peers, and even more in the facts. It's something that you all do so well here that makes me trust everyone even more.

So DU, some of my hard earned cash is going into the veins of this site to keep it alive a little longer, and to keep the mission alive. You are all saluted.

Thanks
true_notes

10. 1000 bucks a month...with a partner
I'm overseas now, so I'm making a little more. I was only getting about 13,500 bucks a year. I'm sorry about your woes, but I've got my own.

15. Donating is voluntary. People should give when they feel...
they want to give. Otherwise, it would be called a fee for service rather than a donation.

I don't think that we should rain on his parade right now since he's made the decision to give now. Even if he didn't give, I'm not going to judge him or anyone else.

(I'm not trying to be smart, but it's his decision -- not ours.)

17. DU is not set up like that
It's strictly voluntary and whether someone donates or does not donate should not reflect on them at all.

I know, I couldn't afford the donation at the Dean rally. You're right. This isn't a hundred dollar a plate dinner.

16. I really like what you say here, true_notes.
By the way, I hope that you don't feel bad about what anyone's said about you not giving earlier. Nobody but you knows your situation, and , as I'm sure that you know, there are ways to make contributions besides money. We each give what we can with what we have to give.

However, I'm glad that you value DU so much that you've felt it worthy of your hard-earned money.

18. yippy, good on ya
I really feel like DU keeps me involved in politics. I had a bad case of isolation blues after the election. I've been posting about 6 months and already my life has changed. I've donated to the DNC and our state Democrats. Yesterday Howard Dean came to Boise! He truly spoke of the most important things closest to my heart. I went to the big rally at the park and then to the more intimate gathering at the Black History Museum. I got to shake his hand! I had someone snap a picture of me standing near him. He was so cool...I was trying to be discrete and not make a fool of my self...but I wanted a picture to post here if I can figure out how. He was good enough to pose for a moment during all his chatting and hand shaking. Yep, DU is a worthwhile vehicle for change and progress. In fact DU was the only reason I even cared about getting a computer and the only reason I've ever cared if I could type. God, I love you guys.

19. I've always been short on cash...
underemployed...unemployed...underemployed...I've been there

But DU is worth supporting. If you add how much money you spend here and there...every penny is worth it (why waste it on Starbucks coffee???)

Even though I don't post too much anymore (I am still suffering from post-November '04 depression) I go to DU at least 3 times a day to read news and know that there are people who feel exactly the same way I am.

Thanks, DU

It is worth donating just to get rid of it!! (Of course, that is not the only reason!)

28. Go true_notes!
Your decision to donate is fantastic as is your post. I try to donate for those who might not be able to, but certainly deserve to be acknowledged for their contributions. We have such an amazing community here ... even if some could take a lesson in tongue biting. We should give what are able ... but is our ideas and thoughts that make DU what it is.
