1. No.
If Roe is overturned, what will they rouse the rabble with?

It's a smokescreen, imo.

It's the other shit that he'll vote on/against that will kill us.

8. Tort Reform
Caps on punitive damages and such as that.

That scares me worst.

those imaginary frivolous lawsuits. What a bunch of BS!

3. I'm surprised people are confident Roe will not be overturned
I think it's so obvious Roe will be overturned before * leaves office.

4. I'm not sure
But as I understand his view, it's the same as O'Connor's, so no.

I'd be willing to fight him if there's some other issues too, but based on his Roe view, I don't think we've got a case against him.

6. As it would stand for next session, 5-4 in favor of Roe v Wade
n favor- Stevens, Ginsburg, Breyer, Souter, Kennedy.

Opposed- Scalia, Rehnquist, Thomas, Roberts (if confirmed)

Yes, Kennedy is not for certain, but he's not going to vote against the issue, that is what I've heard from many SC scholars.

Also, Roe V Wade is just a distraction from the real 900lb gorilla, the interstate commerce laws, which I believe to be more important and are in jeopardy now, that vote is 4-5 against now. Bye bye EPA and Endangered Species Acts, and that's just starters.

9. Maybe overturning commerce clause decisions = pseudo-secession
If you live in a liberal state like California (as I do), we could say goodbye to much of the right wing fanaticism enacted at the federal level. We could legalize medical marijuana without DC's meddling. We could have stricter environmental laws that go beyond today's Court-mandated restrictions. And on another matter, abortion would remain legal here. Perhaps there are some good things that could come from overturning 200 years of commerce clause decisions. California won't need to secede afterall.

7. They should know that if Roe is over turned that health issues will rise,
the birth rate will rise, care for unwanted babies will rise, DHS will be even more over run than they are now and it will cost billions more than now. Plus, it will be brought back in the long run and they know it.
Smoke Screen is right! It's the emotional issue they need to distract the weak minded and keep them voting the Repug ticket no matter what other dangerous human right violations they propose. The one issue voters keep the Repugs winning and that issue is "right to life"!

14. Overturned? No way.
I can't imagine after all these years it will be overturned. But if it was, and the decision was left up to the individual states, I would leave a state if it outlawed abortion. Maybe I'm naive...:(
