Have you read Susan Faludi's book Backlash?
If you haven't, you really should. It explains the current feminist backlash and the "antifeminist feminists" who are in no way feminists.

Roberts' wife is in a group called "Prolife Feminists." Well, read Faludi's book to see the political implications of this new rightist style of feminism.

Without knowledge of Faludi's arguments, it's hard for people to see how feminism is being twisted.

2. They ridicule the women who got them those rights...
Most of the antifeminist feminists believe that they are exceptional creatures and therefore were able to earn their position, while they believe that other women just use feminism as a crutch to get what they want because of their gender.

Most are now proponing a kind of feminism that is totally separate from what you and I think of as feminism.

They say that the ultimate form of feminism is to be able to stay home with your children, and to raise them, and to let the other women go out and bust their humps.

It's a strange evolution, I tell ya. Pick this book up and read it if you have a chance. It completely informed me on feminism and it's modern version.

9. Good explanation of the new Orwellian version of "feminism"
Affirmative action is anti-feminism
Equal pay for equal work is anti-feminism
Sexual harassment laws are anti-feminist
Right to privacy over one's own OWN BODY is anti-feminist

Yes, I've read about those new pseudo feminists. :puke:

4. All of Faludi's books on feminism are worth reading.
Backlash is the best place to start. Faludi discusses the media's role in imparting an air of shame to feminism. She talks at length about the media.

Well worth the read and a good introductory book for your daughters.

7. Feminism was simply too powerful a movement to bury...
... so groups such as the Prolife Feminists are intended to co-opt that movement.

The right wing does want to change the culture. Back to what it was in 1890, I think.

10. Just as the Repugs are attempting to coop black rights/issues
The statement by the Repugs chair about repugs being wrong about their stand on black issues, Bush's visits to black groups in attempt to win their votes, and the appointment of a few token minorites are just a few recent examples of how they are attempting to bogart our base and twist and distort OUR MOVEMENTS for their gain. It's more Rovian strategy at work.
