This is what I really like about DU

I like DU because it is a lot like the old MSNBC boards where I started posting, with huge numbers of posters. The only difference is that DU keeps out the flamers and freepers.

Certainly there is as much disagreement here as you'd find just about anywhere where everyone is allowed to post because, as Will Rogers once said, "I don't belong to any organized political party. I'm a Democrat."

You will, of course, find a lot of one liners and objectionable babble, but if you pick your threads and jump in only on quality you'll have a good time. That's something I learned at MSNBC. When a board is big enough to do that you have the luxury of both worlds. You can ignore the garbage and still have plenty of opportunities for good discussion.

Today we have two lines of posts. One line of posts (that I would include myself in) says "Get back to Rovegate and don't take the bait to change the subject." The other line of posts says "Fight the SCOTUS nominee now and forever because to do otherwise is unthinkable."

Yet both lines of reasoning can peacefully coexist on the same board at the same time. As someone who has run my own boards (though very small and insignificant in comparison to DU) I can say that is no small accomplishment.

Yes, that is "Republican".

Why don't you say exactly what you mean.

But to make it clearer...

I contend that many of the policies of the cloistered, beltway Democratic leadership (hint: Council) is nothing more than warmed-over Republican ideology. Good stuff like TelCom, NAFTA, welfare reform and the Iraq War. Pro Big Business, anti little guy stuff.

Puzzle solved.

I can get a lot of differing opinions and facts about any given subject and that's a big help when you can't catch the tube or read the paper.

Plus, when I need a good laugh I can usually find it here. Some threads get the most hysterical responses and I'm literally holding my belly 'cause I'm laughing so hard.

I will stay a DUer for a long time.

Mostly there respectful of me as I am of them. I am so happy I found this place. As you know I am a disabled person and this is my social contact during the week. And I couldnt ask for a nicer bunch of people to spend the hours with. Smiles for miles people. Love ya.
