There HAS BEEN a sea change!
There are now four Republicans who are not buying the WH line:
Richard Shelby, Chuck Hagel, John McCain and Arlen Specter. As long as Dems were the only ones creating a stink the scandal could be dismissed as partisan. That's no longer the case. Didn't McCain just say a few days ago the Niger situation was a "minor" issue? Not anymore. There's no more chance the WH can put this genie back in the bottle.

3. I agree
They have been trying to paint it as a partisan issue. I watched Rohrbacher from California on CNN and his bluster was so transparent. He actually asked, "So what the Democrats want to return Saddam to power?" :eyes: in between laughing, trivializing and being dismissive of the questions. Do they all go to the same debate coach? I know high schoolers who could do better than this.

4. McCain/Hagel
Edited on Mon Jul-14-03 05:39 PM by twilight
McCain said that whoever is responsible should lose their job! I saw this in CNN Live with Sen. Hagel and he was asking/demanding answers to questions!!!

P.S. On edit: Hagel said this was NOT a Democrat/Republican issue - it was wayyyyy beyond that!!!

:kick:

6. ABC News just said Cheney was the one who pushed to have the 16 words
in SOTUS even though it was proven bogus....Terry Moran just said that ABC had discovered this....The plot thickens!!!

7. oh good!
I was sooooo hoping Cheney would not get away with his part in this. It doesn't excuse Bush either, he's the President.

8. four sharks who smell blood in the water...
All four are political opportunists and are secretly hoping that Shrub & Co go down so they can get the '04 GOP nomination (and all four are far enough removed from the cabal that they'll be relatively untainted enough to do so).

9. Hey, at this point I don't care what their motives are
I'm just glad they've joined the chorus so this can no longer be painted as a partisan issue.

11. Specter... really?
I can't imagine that Specter was a Democrat... not that he's a rightist, just that he's such an old Rockefeller type.
