Frankly, I think the "real cost to us" has relatively little to do with military fatalities. The real cost has to do with the open admission that Amerika has embraced fascism at home and the jackboot abroad.

2. I suspect that if they're on DU, they may actually care.

It's the ones who say, "Hell, yeah! Screw them ragheads!" who won't give a crap about what is done by their government.

And then there's the 50% of the country who doesn't even bother to vote. To me, they are utter wastes of flesh.

3. Volunteerism

I once suggested to a gun-owning friend in grad school that, since he was so interested in confronting Communism, and spoke fluent native French and decent German, and was single with no kids -- he should sign up and go fight in Czechoslovakia or the Balkans. There was plenty of shooting and killing in both places at the time.

I told him "Go. When will you ever have a better opportunity?"

He never spoke to me again. Apparently it was all about impressing chicks in Orange County singles bars.

4. Comfortable right wingers have always been more than ready

to volunteer the services of others for military purposes.

Rummy even said it was a great way for the disadvantaged to earn money for schooling. Republican elitism. Let's help the poor: if they survive fighting for us, we'll give them a few bucks for schooling.

It's easy for these creeps to pontificate and get their panties in a bunch after being whipped into a frenzy after three hours of Limbaugh. However, they're all a bunch of blowhards without substance.
