What hope without the Media? There are 43 wildfires burning in the
West and over 300,000 acres are affected. I saw this on the WEATHER CHANNEL. I have to admit I tune in to CNN occasionally. I haven't heard stories on this tragedy. Maybe it is in the "crawl". I can't read it because it is too distracting. Anyway, are MSNBC and Fox covering these fires? How are states coping with so many National Guard types away doing "other things"? If CNN won't really report the news what hope have we?

They announced the other day that we have fewer chemicals in our systems per a CDC report but did not mention any of the very negative bits in the report. It is an outrage. Do we have a chance without a real NEWS network to offer competition to this crap? Why isn't there one? I would suppose that tens of millions would watch. We're boned.

1. Weather Channel
is my "safe haven"....if I watch ANY of the cable news networks I start throwing things at the TV....

Kelly Cass
Kristen Dodd
Stephanie Abrams
Cherly Lemke

Steve Lyons
Jim Cantore

They're all as familiar as neighbors and provide a nice, calm spot on the tv

The Environmental Protection Agency paid the Weather Channel $40,000 to produce and broadcast several videos about ozone depletion, urban heat problems and the dangers of ultraviolet radiation as part of the Bush administration's efforts to inform the public about climate change, agency records show.

6. Be that as it may be
they don't force a political agenda down your throat and they try very hard to be nonjudgemental in their reporting....

not bad....

btw: My son says that most weather professionals are Repubs...he has no idea why......

2. Local Channels in CO All Over
the fires. Yesterday I wanted to record NBC News, got home and instead there was a special on local news covering fires only.

5. If reported, it would then lead to the fact that the Nat'l Guard isn't
available to fight them as they have in the past.
