Sheepole/Freeper logic smack down
I have a poltical blog and a sheepole left a recent comment in response to an entry I posted above Rove and treason, its priceless:

You guys take the cake. It's the same old wah wah wah, whining and complaining from the left all the time. I was ready to go to war the afternoon of September 11, 2001, when terrorists attacked our soil. And it was against an enemy who hides in caves and won't identify themselves with a uniform. The war is against not only them but any nation who harbors them. Stop your whining and remember your countrymen and women that were lost to an act of war. Weapons of Mass destruction? His name was Sadaam Hussein. We got him. Now it's time to strategically set up a base in Iraq. What an opportunity.

I thought this was such a good example of sheepole logic, that I had to take him apart in a smack down entry that I posted on my blog: http://wakeupsheepole.blogspot.com

Enjoy if you like!

1. If he ws ready to go to war ...
why didn't he go down and enlist and ask for infantry duty?

Just another coward that likes to watch war on teevee.

2. Does this moron realize that the terrorists who attacked
us on 911 are dead? I guess we could kill them again if we could find the pieces. Dumbasses.

4. Excellent! Blog on...
The 'over there' not 'over here' rationale is taking on water even among conservatives.

9. Pape was on C-SPAN's AMERICAN JOURNAL: link
http://www.c-span.org/search/basic.asp?ResultStart=1&ResultCount=10&BasicQueryText=robert+pape&image1.x=23&image1.y=8

If this link doesn't work go to C-SPAN's main page and search Robert Pape.
Pay attention to some of the Kool-Aid drunk callers. Flippin' some folks is a real up-hill battle.
They have an abridged version of "Clash of Civilizations" stuck in their heads.
All best, GNP

5. I Flipped A "Sheeple" The Other Day
A female acquaintence...40-ish with a son rapidly approaching 18. She was a die-hard bushita...more along the defense lines. She is an Army brat and kept saying how she wanted her boy to be just like his father and so on. For the better part of that time, I said very little. She was so into the kool-aid and scared that OBL and Saddam Hussein were hiding at her local gas station...ready to fly an airplane into her little townhouse. Don't laugh, she was serious about this...she still thinks there are "sleeper cells".

The other day, after not discussing politics since before last year's election (when I called her immoral for willing voting for a regime that lied to get us into a war for profit), she brought up the topic. I wanted to hear her out.

Initially it was her disgust with all these people who are "hurting our military"...refering to those of us who don't wave flags and have yellow ribbons on our cars. Then went on to how poorly our soldiers are being treated now and started to spew the Faux noise crap about us not knowing the good things going on.

I stopped her right there and asked her if she really knew who was "hurting the military". I mentioned the cuts in Veterans benefits (her father is waiting for surgery in a VA facility...has been for three months), stop losses, extended tours and the lack of the proper troop strength and improper equipment. The other end of the discussion started to get silent and I could see she couldn't deny this and was having a tough time agreeing.

Next, I asked if was following what was going on with Rove (I wouldn't even chance the DSM). She said it was a "librul media" attack. I asked who was the "librul media". She said "New York Times". Couldn't have asked for a better example. I then started to educate her on Judy Miller and her association with Chalabi and how her stories leading up to the war were debunked by her own paper and proven to be fraudulent. Then I tried to touch on how this scandal is about covering up those lies from people like her. They wouldn't change my mind, they were just trying to snow her. I could see a light coming on. She remained quiet.

Next I went into how there's no "exit stratetgy" here. I asked when she would consider this war "won". She said when we defeat "terrorism". I asked how we fight a word? Do we eliminate from a dictionary or turn it into a swear word? She said "well, you know what I mean". I said, "do you know what you mean?" I asked who "the terrorist" were. She gave the typical boiler plate of right wing boogie men...and I asked if making them martyrs would eliminate or increase terrorism. Then I asked if we we were fighting the good fight, why are there more terrorists and attacks than three years ago, not less. She tried a weak "they hate us for who we are" crap. I said, "they hate us cause we invaded their country and destroyed it. How would you feel if that happened here"

She then said she was concerned about her son going into the military with such a bad situation going on. I said, unless there's some concept of reality here, this thing is going to get worse...and a good chance her son will be sitting in that shooting gallery in less than a year. I said what a shame it would be her son (she is "lower middle class") rather than the children of those who are profiting from this invasion...and asked where the bush twins were this summer. That must have gotten to her.

She asked how I was so sure of what I was saying...especially about Rove. I gave her a bunch of links to read...including the available Fitzgerald court briefs, Lawrence O'Donnell's articles and told her to get back to me. It'll be interesting how things shake out on Monday. I could see in her eyes a look of total confusion and betrayal. If the seed hadn't been planted already, I just fertilized it a bit.

Peace...

6. Well done...
I've said it before - it's a battle for hearts and minds.

In it, there are no small victories.

7. Thank You...They're Looking For Reasons Now
I'm starting to perceive a shift in some of the right wingers...they know things are bad and getting worse and are too conflicted to do a 180. It's small victories, small battles...but with a bigger picture in mind.

The problem in talking to these people is the overwhelming urge to jump all over them...unleash that frustration. That's the worst thing to do now. Let them talk this out...and be the open platform. When they start asking the questions you do, then that's a battle one.

Cheers and thank you!
