Poll question: Regarding Iraq
After the damage and destruction we have done, and now we are assuring that women's rights are being dismantled, would you support an Act of Congress to allow any Iraqi to come to the United States to live as a war refugee?
We have decimated their country, their civil rights, their families, their homes, their cultures....
We owe these people.
You ask yourself WWJD (what would Jesus do)...well my guess is that he wouldn't litter what used to be The Garden of Eden with depleted uranium.

1. Wow.
So far these results shock me--coming from a progressive board.:(

2. Iraqi Immigration
In light of everything we have done, I would have to give a conditional yes -- the condition being something akin to a background check or something similar. That part is only logical. :)

Otherwise, yes, particularly the families and other obvious non-combatants. They've bled enough already, dammit! :(

~~AA~~

3. That would go without saying
background checks, that is.
I just can't see condemning people to live in a disease ridden, rat infested, uranium polluted country that we have created so that we could steal their natural resources.

6. there is a strong ethnocentric bias in this poll
The assumption is that our country is so much better, the solution to solving Iraq's problems is to invite Iraqis here. The thing to do, of course, was to stay the hell out of their business. Absent that, we need to turn the country back to them and give them everything they need to rebuild their country--that is our responsibility. Destroying a country and then promoting immigration to the US is far from progressive.

5. we make it a breeding ground for terrorists and then invite them here?
Unless you want to see a lot of Americans murdered, that is a very bad idea

7. I voted no
We can't really afford anything like that. People here have a hard time as it is finding jobs. They don't belong here, because we can't take them.
