34. Exactly. Then why was it presented as truth?
Oh, gosh, I just said that these Limeys said that they'd tried, it wasn't like I was trying to scare everyone into thinking Saddam had the bomb.

If the CIA can't certify it as true, then why is it presented as true? This isn't the Soviet Union, the burden of proof is on the the accuser. For some reason, Noonan believes that Republicans are annointed with a given beauty, and all they assert is true, with no need of proof.

Here's the REAL crux of the issue: Junior claimed that incredibly compelling evidence forced him from his peaceful ranch to mount the horse and "git 'em". Every bit of information and "proof" is flimsy, questionable and not the least bit urgent. This proves that nothing leapt out and forced the peaceful types to have to defend all that's good and holy, it just buttresses the argument that they had long since decided what they wanted to do and were just looking for every excuse. Even in the light of pathetic pseudo-excuses it's obvious that they cared nothing about reality or truth, they just wanted to oust Hussein.

In our hour of fear and vulnerability, they cynically TERRORIZED the legislature and people for permission to get family revenge and huge personal financial gain. They used us. They personally violated us and scared us into letting them have their way for mass-murdering adventurism. Probably more than 10,000 human beings are DEAD. Junior may think they're in their afterlife according to whether they were good or not, but I feel they're just dead. That's just a feeling; I KNOW that children and families cry in desolation and poverty so Junior can get personally wealthy from stolen minerals. That I KNOW. Sadness and tears, maimed and bereft people and a newfound army of people who justifiably hate us are now where a moribund and isolated STABLE dictatorship once was.

There was no real evidence, and yet the essence to their argument is that there was unavoidable evidence screaming at them to act. They moved heaven and earth to find justification and couldn't find much of anything but lies and innuendo. They consistently skewed everything to justify their actions.

What all this proves is that this was predetermined and cynically engineered by holding us ransom. It's just what they did in the '02 elections: let us destroy unions or we'll leave you naked to your peril.

They will stop at nothing. Tell them they're ugly.

25. While we're talking about this...
A. Giving Bush Verbal Blow Jobs

Has anyone wondered about Peggy Loonan's role in the Reagan administration? She was the proverbial "sweet young thing" who worked closely with the Great Napper and, from the tone of her memoir of those days, sounded pretty much in love with Bonzo. Any chance that she might have been "Ronnie's Monica"...?

Inquiring minds want to know!

40. Peg's Meds: seriously, which psychotropics do you think she's on?
Judging from the many times I've watched and listened to her slur and lockjaw her way through punditfests, I'm guessing a combination of Zoloft, Paxil and low-dose Xanax.

The Green Room cocktails can't help either.

All of the above would be somewhat effective in combating the symptoms of a guilty conscience.

49. Peggy converted to conservative Catholicism - Opus Dei
stuff recently (in the last 1-2 years).

She's seriously messed up.
"The Rev. John McCloskey, who runs the Catholic Information Center in downtown Washington, D.C., was instrumental in Brownback’s conversion. Brownback, an evangelical who was elected in 1996 with strong support from the Religious Right, had been a United Methodist.
Slate reported Aug. 9 that McCloskey is a traditionalist Catholic and member of Opus Dei, a secretive group of lay Catholics who hold ultra-conservative views. McCloskey’s goal, according to Slate, is to purge the church of liberals.

McCloskey, who previously oversaw the conversion of journalist Robert Novak to Catholicism, worked with U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) to win over Brownback. Santorum, a fan of Opus Dei, asserted recently that several U.S. senators have been "cowed into silence" and won’t talk about God or their faith. U.S. culture and media, he said, "beat us up continuously to drive God out of the public square."

well, why have intelligence at ALL, you stupid kneejobber?

on top of THAT, if what you say is true, WHY WHY WHY is Tenet the one who's being blamed?

They used Reagan's words to go effect. Wouldn't it be lovely if Peggy Noonan was the one who wrote those words?!!

I am SO glad someone in the media is finally holding Bush accountable.

No president in the history of the country assumed the job when the country was in such good shape in terms of the economy, crime, status in the world. And no president has done so much damage in such a short time!

You can bet crime will rise as a result of the economy and the cuts in after school programs and Headstart. I honestly believe the Republicans want more criminals so that they can use fear to get elected. Also, their prison-owning buddies make money off the prisoners.

43. I was surprised by O'Donnell
He was all over Fund, tag-teaming with Tweety.

Noonan's use of the word "Christopher" was an attempt to intimidate him. "Bad boy, Christopher." ACTUALLY, I suspect that Catholic school kids like him heard a lot of nuns say a disapproving "Christopher!" I'm sure it was deliberate.

And when she said "we'll be right back" instead of him saying it, Tweety's face was a picture of astonishment.

But he called her "beautiful" at the end of the segment.

Jumps ship more often than someone with OCD washes their hands. I have seen him tear into bush one day and praise him the next, most often after putting his finger to the wind. To his credit he was fairly consistent about opposing the war, but then delivered a mea culpa about how he was "wrong" after Baghdad fell. Don't be surprised if he's whoring for the GOP tomorrow.
