Protect Your Healthcare

Dear Protect Your Healthcare Supporter:

Your action is urgently needed this week to stop passage of a House bill that will hurt your family's healthcare. Visit www.ProtectYourHealthcare.org to make your voice heard.

The leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives has designated the week of July 25th as “Health Week,” forcing to a vote legislation that will undermine healthcare in your state by creating a new type of health insurance, federal Association Health Plans.

If this bill becomes law, Association Health Plans will be free to eliminate your right to appeal a denied claim, deny your access to trusted healthcare specialists like ObGyns and cardiologists, and increase your premiums – as much and as often as they choose.

ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE:

It is critical that your Representative hear from you before voting on Association Health Plan legislation this week. Please email your Representative today by entering your ZIP code in the space provided above and pressing “go.” Urge your lawmaker to oppose HR 525, the Small Business Health Fairness Act of 2005. To learn more about AHP legislation and where your lawmaker stands, visit www.ProtectYourHealthcare.org.

You can make your voice heard by phone by calling your Representative at the Capitol Switchboard, (202)224-3121.

Your voice is a powerful weapon in the fight for quality healthcare. Ask your friends online to join with us in writing their Representative. Click here to tell a friend and urge them to visit ProtectYourHealthcare.org.

During Health Week, let's remind Congress what American families need most from our health system: quality, affordable health coverage – not bandaid solutions that cost families more and offer less protection and less coverage for vital services. Thank you again for helping us Protect Your Healthcare.

1. Don't get me wrong, this is a good site.

And the people running it have their hearts in the right place. The problem is this:

The terminology "Protect Your Health-care" is misleading. There is no health-care left to protect unless you are rich enough to afford it.

I spend over: 1300 a year on my premium but I still don't get access to a doctor because of a $2500 dollar deductible. Right now I have a pain in my stomach, I am saving up the money to see a doctor. (It will cost me $300 minimum.)

It's a horrible feeling to know you need to go to the doctor, but you have to make sure the bills get paid first. It's so cruel that I want to slap the smug republicans that justify this system.

I am lucky to have the craptacular coverage that I do have; millions of Americans aren't as fortunate and the system will murder them when they fall ill.

We don't need people to "protect" what little we have. We need organizations to fight tooth-and-nail for a single-payer system. Fighting to protect the corporatized system is like fighting to stay on a sinking life-raft when a ship is nearby.

3. Yes, I agree. My insurance premium costs me very little per
month (my employer pays the biggest chunk as part of my retirement deal), but I can't even afford the 20% co-pay. I know I'm better off than most. And I truly believe that the plan is to rid this country of the old, sick and poor. I feel the sorriest for the elderly who supported this country before us and the young who don't have a chance in hell for a decent life. "Christian values" my ass.

Exactly. We don't have healthcare in this country, we have wealthcare. You have to be wealthy to afford all the healthcare that you need. This is the hallmark of an uncivilized, barbaric, dog-eat-dog country.

4. Just a new way of bilking the tax payers. Not the rich "taxpayers"
(I know, that's an oxymoron)of course. They aren't allowed to be screwed over.
