I am a Michael Moore Democrat
I've read his books and it's like being at home. I related completely to F911 and thought the Republicans (and anyone else, including DLC) that trashed him for his beliefs were way out of line.

4. Me too, and IMO an even more important point is that
Moore is NOT that out of the mainstream when you're talking about people who are INFORMED in this country. Moore himself often talks about how very liberal this country is. I know that in my heart, and I trust that his observations and experience are reasonably accurate as well.

That doesn't mean that there aren't red states or huge pockets of very conservative people in the country. But that there are more of US than them.

Too, they wouldn't have to LIE about themselves, their past and records, their agendas and legislation if that weren't true. Really, that's all they've got is lies -- that and wedge issues, which are based on lies.

9. after the Clintons/Gore/Kerry, name a dem who's been more vilified
over the last few years than Moore

he's one of their favorite fund-raising targets, and there are those who still claim (Mr. Somesay?) that his activities last year hurt more than helped

that's an integral part of the fascist propaganda: ceaseless downgrading of the most articulate voices on the even slightly left

look at who routinely gets called far left liberals by almost all the far right radicals in power, and it's equally routinely accepted by the media, almost always without demurral

they've so shifted the parameters of political discourse with their big lie technique that rational discussion is just about impossible

15. I think Tim Robbins has come close
Edited on Tue Jul-26-05 05:36 PM by mtnester
he was even vilified by his own peers just like Michael Moore, however, Mike gets it more often simply because he SCARES the repubs more.

On edit - sheesh, I forgot Jane Fonda.

17. pretty easy to make a list of those most vilified, isn't it? start with
those most visibly espousing progressive causes in the media, be they celebs or politicians, then go down the line to the little people

stick your neck out very far at any level, and you get whacked

what do you think the purpose of that execrable list by Bernard Goldberg, aside from earning him piles of blood money from the idiots and bulk buyers on the far right?

there should be more outrage about that lying prick

remember his first book, when he cut/pasted (without even READING) a story from MRC about women not needing men, when the actual article cited was about fricking BUGS????

it sickens me beyond measure when I see this creep getting widespread pub, as well as lining his pockets over the bodies of progressive causes, in the name of cleaning up society

24. I agree with that.
I do not think that he is anything other than mainstream. He is well-informed, and creative. He has a talent for getting his message across. But the message certainly isn't outside the mainstream.

Micheal Moore rocks. I don't agree with everything he says...only about 95%. He is resonating the real American Spirit.

Just like every other good and decent American who has seen through the BS, from John Dilulio to this week's target Fitzgerald.

It's all they know. Lie, then smear those who won't play along with the lie.

12. Thank God for Michael Moore
I think Fahrenheit 911 was an important film at a critical juncture in American history (no less). After F911, there was a noticeable shift in how people related to the Bush junta. There was nothing new in it for those who pay attention, but for many people I think it was an eye-opener.

14. I am a Moore/Dean Democrat
More Dean I say, more Dean!! LOL

Everytime one of the GOP spinners says what Michael Moore had to say in F911 is one-side of the story, I think to myself - at least Michael doesn't lie and twist things like Rush and Hannity. Most of what MM had in the movie were clips I had seen on Cable News and CSpan.

And I am with Michael Moore - GWB is a deserter (technically). As a veteran, I know that if one stays gone for over 30 days during war, that is desertion.

16. Michael Moore rocks!!! But
he's not a democrat, believe he's an Independent or a Green. He said it himself on some talk show when the movie came out, just don't recall exact words.

19. Doesn't matter if he's Dem or Independent-I'm talking about
his positions, and in juxtaposition with the DLC, which seeks to villify those who share his opinions and thus labels them "Michael Moore Democrats".

So, I'm a Democrat who agrees with almost all of Michael Moore's positions, regardless of what party he is personally. He more accurately captures how I would like the Democrat party to be than the DLC any day any time of the week.

21. You guys are right! He voted for Nader in 2000..
But, he's smart, on top of things, and HE GETS IT. Nader in 2000 would have been okay as a statement if the Republicans didn't have it set up to steal Florida, etc. ((My brother, Mr. Gore, has assured me I've won Florida!) No ONE imagined this Nightmare. Michael Moore came around Big Time in 2004. Fahrenheit 9-11 and his open campaigning for Kerry should make it clear...he doesn't like Bush!!!!...Or, Bush's family and what he stands for. After viewing Michael Moore's movies, CAN ANYONE find a reason to like Bush or dislike Mr. Moore?

Not me, I LOVE HIM!

25. Michael Moore Democrat means to me, will vote 3rd Party if necessary
And, yeah, you know what...that means me, too. With all the negativity coming out of the DLC, I've about had it with that wing of the Party. If we get another DLC nominee in 2008, I'll Moore myself on over to 3rd Party.

Yeah, I would vote 3rd Party, as I'm no Yellow Dog Dem. Never was, never will be. You've got to earn my vote and prove to me you are going to represent my interests.
