Poll question: Was life in America better under Clinton?
Edited on Tue Jul-26-05 08:46 PM by billbuckhead
Not how your life is necessarily, though it's hard to have an opinion without a life to view things, but the general state of America and it's place in the world

2. kind of a no-brainer.
even scandals were relatively harmless, as opposed to say, oh i don't know, war treason and terrorism.

5. Americana was healthier under clinton's presidency.
As for life being better "under clinton", i'd have to ask his shoes.

7. Blinding flash of "duh" there
A better poll would be: Was life better under James Buchanan, Herbert Hoover or Jethro "Monkeyboy" Mussolini.

10. A man of intelligence and compassion at the helm
Love him or hate him, at least you knew it was him and his decisions and not some team of advisors telling him what to say and how to act.

13. That's it, Canuckistanian - I felt a lot safer that my best
interests weren't in jeopardy with Clinton steering. Now my thinking is a whole lot different.

11. small little oddity
Now, while I recognize that in general the economy under Clinton was in vastly better shape, I myself was in far worse shape.

For instance, in 1995 (Clinton's reign) I was in really horrendously bad shape. People I knew had to do all kinds of extreme things to stave off homelessness, like collaborating in large groups to get an apartment and taking turns sleeping indoors (most people actually found hiding places in the nearby college campus). The food situation was pretty bad, too. Even illegal means of subsistence were flooded so drug dealing and prostitution weren't options for people (i.e. there were more drug dealers than people doing drugs, more wannabe prostitutes than johns).

I managed to break out of the worst of the temporary worker racket by getting into a factory assignment where I got enough hours to live off of, and later made it through college and got a middle class -like job shortly before Bush took office. Since then I've survived massive multi-annual layoffs largely on the basis of the particular field I work in being near-indispensible and facing a real talent shortage (unlike computer programming in general, the need to draw on a global talent pool in my area is real, and even globally there isn't enough). Those who have been hit by layoffs I've largely seen becoming homeless or committing suicide.

12. The people were happier and the businesses gave us good paying jobs we
worked hard and smart in, so FUCK YEAH.

Never mind other statistics showing, inflation aside, working class people got zilch while the execs made 400... 500... 600 times more, but that's okay too.

14. I was making $20K more a year than I am now
I got laid off exactly one week after that fuckwad "won" the election and struggled for years on freelance work. I have a decent job now, but I was doing WAY better under Clinton. I hope every goddam fretard loses his or her job this year. The crying CUNT who voted for him twice from Tennessee begging him to help her because they just lost their health benefits and her husband has Alzheimers and they only get $769 a month in SS benefits, plus food stamps...and now Tennessee is taking away their health benefits. Know what, BITCH, FUCK YOU. Suck on your Bush vote. He doesn't give a rat's ass about you, DUMBASS. He used you, you dumb fuck. So, you know, DIE. Two less Republican votes next time, moron.
