This is why I hate politicians, especially ones like Joe Biden
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 08:44 PM by Kelvin Mace
Here is his letter to Condi Rice about Bolton lying:

It has just come to my attention that then-Undersecretary of State John Bolton was interviewed on July 18, 2003 by the State Department Office of the Inspector General in connection with a joint State Department/CIA IG investigation related to the alleged Iraqi attempts to procure uranium from Niger. This information would appear to be inconsistent with information that Mr. Bolton provided to the Committee on Foreign Relations during the Committee’s consideration of his pending nomination to be Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The Committee on Foreign Relations expects all nominees to provide to it accurate and timely information. Indeed, in submitting the Committee’s questionnaire, all nominees are required to swear out an affidavit stating that the information provided is “true and accurate.” It now appears that Mr. Bolton’s answers may not meet that standard. I write, therefore, to request that you review this matter to determine whether incomplete or inaccurate information was provided by Mr. Bolton.

This letter is "diplomatic" and "statesman-like", in other words, bullshit.

The letter I would write:

Dear Ms. Rice:

Your boy lied to us. He will NOT be confirmed as the US UN representative. Tell your boss that if he tries a recess appointment, we will charge the lying scum with perjury and he can serve as the UN rep from a jail cell.

If you really want someone confirmed, try appointing Bush Senior. At least he's qualified.

13. Agreed!
We have a low life immature president. I certainly don't want to see gutter rhetoric from a democratic senator.

3. He's following Senate protocal. Give Biden a break.
As much as we would like it, things just don't move that fast.

I'm not sure exactly how a charge of purgury has to be brought. I don't think it's in the Senate though. If Biden lied to the Inspector General, I think someone in the justice dept. has to file the charges.

4. Biden refers the matter to the Justice Dept
for investigation. A letter will do, hand-delivered.

I just want to see a politician call a liar, a LIAR!

That is a brilliant piece of work. Kudos to the writer of that letter which reamed bolton is such a way that he can do nothing but sit there and squirm.

Imfo, your idea of how poltics is played is part of the reason so many have abandoned politics and buried their heads in the sand. That's just how the republican slave owners want us - buried. Do they really need a helping hand like your's?

11. Left
Well, if you ever had been in such a situation, you'd find that outright calling someone a liar makes people very uncomfortable, (like in a bar fight). In fact, Biden's letter did call bolton a liar and did it in such a way that the only pissed off folks are knee-jerk liberals. Win-win. Biden is the pro here.

17. It wasn't written
...for the average American. But I'm pretty damn average and I grok it, pretty damn clearly; He said bolton came to the congress and lied. Pretty damn clear to me.

14. We need a bar fight!
That was the point of how I phrased the letter.

I am sick and of politicians, especially on our side, being so "polite" that what they say loses all meaning. If you showed Biden's letter to most voters they wouldn't get the "gist" that Bolton's a liar.

Our nation, nay our WORLD, is at stake. Time for some blood on the floor. Better politican's blood than soldiers blood.

15. Politicians blood...
Can't argue with ya there. But the blood that needs to be spilled is not that of our friends, but that of our enemy. To even suggest that our friend's blood be spilled is.....

23. Certainly your choice
but at least with mine their would be NO question the matter was settled and Bolton was history.

Now they just correct the inaccuracy and proceed with the confirmation.

Politeness and civility only works when the purveyor has a spine. Biden is a DLC hack who traded his spine in a long time ago on a lifetime career as a senator subsidized by MBNA.

20. Well, here's the problem with Biden's letter.
I just saw the news covering the issue. Since Biden has termed this an inaccuracy instead of a lie, BushCo says it will "correct" the inaccuracy and resubmit the paperwork.

See?, No harm done.

Biden will be happy and they'll go back to appointing Bolton.

At least with my letter, the issue is cast as non-negotiable and settled for the press and public.

I'm sure Biden would have loved to send a letter like the one you wrote but you know he couldn't. I'm sure he was thinking it though.

22. The problem with this professionalism
is that it is a charade where people behave in artificial ways using artificial language stripped of all truth.

Then they collect a paycheck for $140,000 a year and think they have actually done something useful.

10. I'm so sick and tired of the f_cking lies this administration tells.
Why are so many people still so gullible and lame? They are lying to cover the lies that covered the original lies and these freeps STILL believe in this cabal.

(my hands on my cheeks, shaking my head)....(and I'm babbling incoherently)..
