If 4 lawyers were electrocuted at an ACLU conference,

or four gay or lesbian people were electrocuted at a gay pride event, or four environmentalists were electrocuted at a gathering, how would the right-wing extremists frame it? That God was punishing them for there liberalism.

But when 4 Boy Scout leaders die and hundreds of Boy Scouts fall ill, they blame it on the heat. Maybe God was punishing them for supporting a decidedly un-Christian President (i.e., screw the poor, screw the earth, screw other countries).

But it probably WAS the heat. And it WAS Saudis on the 9/11 planes. I don't believe God allowed 9/11 to punish liberals (as Fatwell and Robertson claimed).

And isn't that kind of a silly thing to say since:

1) It's a huge generalization
2) None of them are old enough to vote -- well, very few. You can be a scout until the age of 18

I was just pointing out their extremism and hypocrisy. If I wanted to compete with Falwell, I'd have to gain 200 pounds, sell my soul, and get on TV.

5. I had these same thoughts

when Reagan finally revealed he had Ahlzeimers. He made extremely vicious and degrading statements about people living and dying with HIV/AIDS. He couldn't condone the "lifestyle" that brought it on. Reagan's "lifestyle" was one of hate and arrogance. Maybe he brought it on himself. If God punishes people by giving them HIV/AIDS, can't He (I would says She but woman are not usually so vindictive unless they are Republican) also punish people like Reagan?

6. What astounds me

is that supposedly part of the Boy Scout training is outdoor survival...How on earth, if outdoor survival is one of the missions, did all those kids and leaders fall prey to heatstroke??? Did they not know to drink a lot of water and stay in the shade?
