that's what a cspan caller lady just said. atheists and agnostics had better get something new to say instead of saying goodbye.

she called to state her feelings against stem cell research, and had to add this little admonition to atheists.

6. "Good" means "like God," too.
That doesn't mean C-Span caller lady actually is, though... even if she thinks she is.

Would God tell an atheist to find another way to say "Good bye?"

If so, He's not very nice.

34. Sneezing
I've always felt it odd that anyone feels a need to say anything when another person sneezes. Let's face it, "God bless you" came about because people used to believe that part of your soul left your body when you sneezed, thus you needed God's help to recoup that smidgen of soul.

Personally, I just say "excuse me" when I sneeze if someone is around. I certainly don't expect them to say anything to me, though.

If atheists aren't supposed to say goodbye because it has a "christian" origin, then christians shouldn't be allowed to celebrate xmas in dec. because of it's non christian origins, or Easter or any other number of rituals we have-only fair...right?

As for the days of the week, I think it's gonna have to be:

As an atheist, I'd feel 100% fine saying "God be with you" to someone who believed in God, and 200% fine if they believed He'd be with them because I said so.

50. You know I am amazed at what passes for what passes for love thy neighbor
And I am terribly sorry that thier are people out there are people that think they can use my god's name in vain and treat others terribly and than be forgiven on Sunday. I am just glad I had parents who told me to that when god said to love thy neighbor it meant without exceptions.

As for the stem cell thing I thought that since god was a healler - who never charged for services - would want stem cell research. Of course what do I know. I think god loves everyone regardless of orientation and stance on reproductive issues. Hang in thier mopaul and everyone dont let the freepers get you down.
