The one good thing about Cal's special election...
The courts have put prop 80 back on the ballot!

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/07/28/INITIATIVE.TMP

<snip>The California Supreme Court restored a consumer-sponsored energy initiative to the Nov. 8 state ballot Wednesday, saying the public should vote on the measure before a legal challenge by the energy industry is considered.

Acting with unusual speed, the court unanimously overturned a ruling issued last Friday by the state Court of Appeal in Sacramento that struck Proposition 80 from the ballot.

The order means the voters will consider, for the second time in seven years, a rollback of the state's 1996 electricity deregulation law. That law, which removed most of the Public Utilities Commission's control of electric supplies and rates, has been attacked by both sides of the energy debate -- for going too far or not far enough -- and is widely blamed for the blackouts and price spikes that Californians endured in 2000-01.

Please, let this pass by a landslide! Although, I must admit I'm dreading the TV ad campaign...."Vote for this and grandma Millie (Just forget about us screwing her in '01 and laughing our asses off about it, we really love her...) will die!!!!" EEEEK!

you can't trust anything unless you've gone over the entire wording with a "flea comb" to protect against sneak attacks.

Who knew the "Social awareness and productivity act" of 2007 really meant we were gonna execute everyone at the age of 65?

Our initiative process can be waaay abused, and has been in the past. You're very much right, ignore the name and read the language!

was far more graphic.
