LEAVE MY CHILD ALONE!!
War is Fun as Hell

America's Army" offers a range of games that kids can download or play online. Although the games are violent, with plenty of opportunities to shoot and blow things up, they avoid graphic images of death or other ugliness of war, offering instead a sanitized, Tom Clancy version of fantasy combat..<SNIP>

The "Young Marines" prepares students as young as 8 yrs. old for Army life
There's ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) at the college level, JROTC (Junior ROTC) at the High School level, and for even younger kids, there's The Young Marines.

It was started in 1965 with chapters in every state and in a few bases overseas, yet in this article from the Merced Sun Times, Commanding Officer Rudolf Tafoya of the Castle Air Young Marines, claims it's not a recruitment tool...<SNIP>

3. They spent some tax dollars to make a game that would improve enlistment
The game was on par with many other of its professionaly produceed peers. The notable exception was that it was available for free download.

I've heard tell that it is a good game and well developed. (minus many of the realities of war of course.) I've even tried it. My computer did not have enough memory. They actually had a line telling me to "support the economy and to buy more."

The sad fact that is did not work to anything more than chickenhawkism on their discussion board is proof that it was money flished down the drain.
